Bruce Lee was a great actor in movies he was shown beating loads of guys. In real we have very less video footage of any of his fights. Being Bruce Lee fan and studying his concepts Bruce Lee was leaning towards the Muay Thai way of fighting adding a few fancy kicks that segregate his style to Muay thai. Bukaw Por paramu would easily beat Bruce Lee hands down. The guy practises kicks and punches day in day out, and the same kick thousands of times, Bruce Lee has no chance at all against Bukaw

Krav Maga borrowed many techniques from Karate, Muay thai, and Judo/Jujitsu. It takes the best and most useful from those styles and combines them for survival hand to hand combat skills on the battlefield. As a Marine you probably know that.
There isn't much point in comparing Krav with MT. Krav uses the leg kicks, knee, and elbow strikes of Muay Thai.
The masters in Israel are actually proficient in Muay Thai technique. It's very useful in Krav Maga.

@MrDanbergo Any form that you do most of the training with gloves on, such as Muay Thai, is more for sport application then self defense. However all martial arts have some self defense applications, though the MT fighter is in trouble as soon as a gun or knife is pulled where other disciplines may have more of a chance. The most well rounded form for street defense I've come across still has to be Ninjutsu.

Specialforces69 - I haven't been to a Krav Maga class yet, but looking forward to going. What I do know is most clubs do not even come close to the level of conditioning that Thai gyms give their students. Even to develope the simple behaviour in properly doing a Wingblock and responding with a barage of punches and kicks takes time to learn and make perfect.
Unless the conditioning is there even a Krav Maga student would have problems against an Thai or MMA practitioner.
If you're training for your first pro-fight you must have very extensive conditioning already. You probably train 4-6 hours a day coming up to your fight. Your kicks probably bruise arms badly through Thai pads. Actually I bet only another pro Thai fighter can hold pads for you. But remember 90% of the people out there even in other martial-arts are not conditioned to take a kick, punch to the body, legs or last more than 30 seconds.
I'm sure he knows a little more than you think. Plus have you had the opportunity to eat a Thai round from a pro? He would probably break your bones with one hit.
obviously you've never done or faced a muay thai fighter. what you're saying is the most obvious thing, but it is well accounted for because there is no way in hell you can get into punching range without eating a devastating kick. also the chin is protected by the shoulder. remember, this is an art that has been battletested for 5000 years.

In a real street fight you fight the street itself (pavement, trash cans, signs, cars, etc.). I knew a guy who was an excellent street fighter, but knew nothing about MMA, philosophy, or personal hygiene. I once saw him punt a trashcan at least 20 yards and he used to tell me..."Martial arts are for people that dont have the guts to headbutt a parked Volkswagen"... I think we could all learn something from him.
I personally know a street fighter who beat the living day light out of a national level boxer. What made the street fighter so good, his lack of hesitation, his pure aggressive ferociousness.
Buakaw is an amazing sports man. Probably a very good street fighter as well. But if you put a raging inmate with a murdering intent that had killed without hesitation against Buakaw on the street. Actually all of this is not true.....yeah Krav Maga comes from army so in the fact it is not no way useless....try to use knife or anything else againts them and they will surely kick out every fart from you. Out in real life, krav maga is more usefull than most martial arts. @MrDanbergo Any form that you do most of the training with gloves on, such as Muay Thai, is more for sport application then self defense. However all martial arts have some self defense applications, though the MT fighter is in trouble as soon as a gun or knife is pulled where other disciplines may have more of a chance. The most well rounded form for street defense I've come across still has to be Ninjutsu.

Specialforces69 - I haven't been to a Krav Maga class yet, but looking forward to going. What I do know is most clubs do not even come close to the level of conditioning that Thai gyms give their students. Even to develope the simple behaviour in properly doing a Wingblock and responding with a barage of punches and kicks takes time to learn and make perfect.
Unless the conditioning is there even a Krav Maga student would have problems against an Thai or MMA practitioner.

If you're training for your first pro-fight you must have very extensive conditioning already. You probably train 4-6 hours a day coming up to your fight. Your kicks probably bruise arms badly through Thai pads. Actually I bet only another pro Thai fighter can hold pads for you. But remember 90% of the people out there even in other martial-arts are not conditioned to take a kick, punch to the body, legs or last more than 30 seconds.

Also how do you know if Buakaw is effective on the street or not? Just by watching a few videos? You have no idea what his background is.

obviously you've never done or faced a muay thai fighter. what you're saying is the most obvious thing, but it is well accounted for because there is no way in hell you can get into punching range without eating a devastating kick. also the chin is protected by the shoulder. remember, this is an art that has been battletested for 5000 years.

In a real street fight you fight the street itself (pavement, trash cans, signs, cars, etc.). I knew a guy who was an excellent street fighter, but knew nothing about MMA, philosophy, or personal hygiene. I once saw him punt a trashcan at least 20 yards and he used to tell me..."Martial arts are for people that dont have the guts to headbutt a parked Volkswagen"... I think we could all learn something from him.

Buakaw is an amazing sports man. Probably a very good street fighter as well. But if you put a raging inmate with a murdering intent that had killed without hesitation against Buakaw on the street. Buakaw may not do so well. Buakaw is good at what he does. Mayweather is good at what he does, and Fedor ... And the Inmate also good at what he does, he kills, he fight to kill, not scoring a knock out or points.
