  • too bad this wasn't released on mvs.. i have crossed swords 1 on mvs but this looks so better and improved. might just get a neo cd for this

  • 04:31 "Sorry, Lentils."

  • Never got a chance to play this one but the first one was fucking badass. These were the type of games that made me love the Neo Geo. Not all the bullshit fighters even though they did make some damn good fighters.

  • Neo Geo CD: "Now Loading...Please Wait"

Me: "Oh, time to grab another beer"

  • heh...crossed swords...

  • It always cracks me up how Japanese developers toss in ninjas in predominantly European-style fantasy settings. Same thing happens in Knights of the Round and Gate of Doom.

  • Is there an english version of this game?

  • rad loading screen

  • Its was only the newer big Meg count games that took a while to load. The older ones only usually had the initial large load.

  • Aye, it was one of the few Neo CD exclusives.

  • no idea why they only made it for the cd, they was gonna put magician lord 2 only on neo geo cd but it never got finished

  • @TastyAcidMilk Cost of the rom for the carts. Eventually when they realised the cd just wasnt popular enough they bit the bullet and paid the extreme price for the masked roms.

  • Looks great thanks for the upload i would love to see more... If you ever get the time you should really do a full playthrough...

  • wow this game looks great!

It loosely reminds me of Punch Out because of the outline of your character

  • game looks great im wanting to get a neo geo cd system and this game or the 1st is one id like to play for sure.

  • This loads faster on the Deamcast under emulation! lol. Probably more to do with the faster CD-Drive more than anything.

  • Even before the video starts I have to say the Neo Geo CD looks gorgeous

  • This game looks great, I never knew there was a crossed swords 2 exclusively to the Neo Geo CD. Great vid as usual Luke.

  • Luke, you finally started using the 10:59 glitch. At least now your vids can be a little longer for the more dialogue heavy vids.

I hope someone converts CS2 to the MVS. I know someone already converted Zintrick but the no sound.

  • this game looks really fun. i remember playing the first game on an arcade cab when i was really young. see, now north american gamers are more interested in video games than ever before and we're also more open to different ideas in japanese game development thanks to the nintendo ds imo. this game and more certainly need to be released in north america in a more accessible format like virtual console, PSN or XBL arcade.

    thanks for posting luke

  • I have a question:

Do you know anything about programming? If so, what languages are you familiar with?

  • that game looks so addicting and unique, easil worth the price

  • Orgasms hardcore super plus*

  • I like this game, its different and interesting.

  • Hey luke love your vids. I was wondering if you'd ever consider doing LPs. I know l'd watch it.

  • An unusual and interesting game design.

  • How much does crossed swords 2 go for nowadays in japan luke? Ill be pretty sure ill be picking that one up when im out there again

  • I have the first one for aes, it is a good game, but quite hard, blocking was not very responsive.

  • AWESOME looking game I like the 2d and the first person look of it. By the way when the loading screens were happening the Jeopardy theme was playing in my head.lol AWESOME Vid Bro

  • awesome, Luke

  • This game looks really fun, thanks for the show :)

  • Great video like always luke! its great to see somebody showing really good games on the neo geo cd. I know it was only released for the neo geo cd, but I saw twice on ebay conversions of crossed swords II for the neo geo AES. Well luke thanks for another great video man keep with the good job! see you around

  • Nice vid' mate, any chance of popping Mortal Kombat Trilogy in on either the N64 or SATURN and playing some of that? That's if you have either of them, I am guessing you do.

  • I own this game as well, its one of my favs in my whole NEO GEO CD collection

  • I really enjoyed it! It looked like a pretty good game :)

  • ive never heard of this game but it looks really cool. is there a english version?

  • every time my neogeo cd loads i always grab a beer....put it down play ... loading grab the beer drink.. back to the game ....

that's how i enjoy my neogeo cd...

  • Wohoo, the shop lady is hot! X3 *Drool*

I have to say, the Art Direction in this Game is just Awesome, respect to the Graphic Designers!

About the Price, it´s a NEO GEO game, high price tags are expected in some way, demand is there and the game looks fun too. Only problem I have with this is the collectors themselves, I´ve seen some that put the games behind Glass and just stare at them, WTF.... You Pay 1000 for a Game and not even Play it...! -.-#

  • the game looks awesome but my neo geo cd dont spin the cd and is the motor that fails the motor for the lends is ok but the one that make the cd spin dont work and i dont know wear to get e replacement

  • Really nice video upload. I played the original Crossed Swords many years ago (briefly)...it'd be nice if something like this was re-released today in a collection or put up for XBLA or PSN download.

  • Really cool music in this game!

  • wow this looks rly nice, btw luke how many neo geo consoles machines do u got? :D

  • Wow this game looks really good. I may try to find this game some time. Again great video.

  • Hey at least we don't see the juggling monkey. I don't think I have this game (not sure if I have Cross Swords 1 or 2). I gotta go digging. This game looks fun, many thanks Luke.

  • Cool vid. Nice to see some more footage of this great game on YouTube. I agree the sequel is probably better with improved graphics and a choice of characters but ultimately I still prefer the original game. It's surprising that the Crossed Swords games aren't more popular.

  • wow these graphics are beautiful

  • Its too bad that ADK have never made a sequel to Magician Lord.

  • is proto version for mvs and aes

  • awesome stuff as always luke!

  • So this is just Super Spy with Knights?

    Well Dynamite Duke with Kinghts.

  • Pretty awesome looking game!

  • this game looks neat

  • lucky for me i have a neogeo cd i just been playing my moded aes system untill i saw crossed swords 2 i want this game i dont mine the load screen the game play cought my eye thank you luke for keeping the neogeo alive

  • cool review, reminds me sorta of that time crisis game for the PS1

  • Wow. I'm selling my PS3 and trading in Demons' Souls today, for a Neo Geo. Ha ha. Just kidding.

  • The perspective is really cool on that game

  • hmm original! Its a bit like NAM 1975...

  • Mmmm awesome.

  • That games a classic. man! I have the rom for it no my NEO GEO CD Emulator. Its an awsome game for sure. Funny I just played this two days ago :)

  • Hey Luke if you have both versions of the NG CD's any chance of a comparison vid running the same game to see what the loading times are like?

  • Not sure if this helps, but the CDZ is a 2x CD-ROM and the original (front loader) utilizes a single speed optical drive. Based on that, I would guess twice the loading times can be expected on the original model NGCD.

I personally own a CDZ and can tell you some of the loading times are tough to sit through. I can't imagine playing them on the original! :( Then again I was already used to playing many of them on the AES with zero loading.

The arranged OSTs are worth buying a NGCD for.

  • I've currently got an AES and MVS convertor (have alook at my channel for some vids) but have always be tempted by a NGCD.

  • Cool game. Never seen a game like this.

  • Great Game Luke,It Reminds Me Dynamite Duke (Sega Mega Drive)

  • This game looks great.

  • Can anyone recommend a good ole TV for old console games. I only have HDTVs and the old system don't look great on the HDTVs.

  • I trade you an old one for a new hd.

  • good try man. I just want a set up for my old consoles.

  • Get an old tube TV. Panasonic, and Sony tubes make classic systems look and sound great. If you care about sound then plug your system into a sound system.

  • Hey Johnnyxsi,

I recommend a Sony Wega CRT. I have a 32" and it looks great with older stuff. Especially S-video. If you connect a computer via s-video and can read the text clearly you know it's going to be great for gaming. I had 24 consoles connected to it (at the same time :P ) check out my link if you are interested in seeing that (mess). hehe.

Good luck with your tv hunting!

  • Ah that's the game in the Happy Console Gamer's intro.

  • that shop babe is hot

  • i like hoe the merchant just pops up and says "what are you buying"

  • i always wanted to play the sequel but never got the chance!

  • Looks really fun!!

How does 2 player work? Does each player get one side or can they overlap?

  • lets pop that in and play some of that, i love ithat

  • Its like playing a medival punch-out. XD

  • looks great, but those load times....

    Another awesome video Luke

  • Ah yes, it is!

  • AFIK, this is a Neo-Geo CD exclusive.

  • looks amazing

  • Woh, nice wireframe-look! I have not seen many game that looks like this, and even less that manages to pull it off. This really doesnt look halfbad :D

  • another classic, but I prefer the first one

  • Looks like a great game. I've never seen this style game before.

  • nice lookin game....it does have dayum good graphics

  • Nice game! You like the Crossed Swords series then? I supose before Oblivion and the like it was the arcades that provided the 'action' RPG experience. The Capcom Dungeons and Dragons as well, Taito had a good Dungeon beat 'em up as well (on the Taito Collection for PS2). I think it was Heroes of Might and Magic IX that had the first fully 3D RPG action game, it was certainly the first I saw anyway! I love the arcades 2D action though!

  • Hey ! can you give me your adress in an mail or something? i have some games i dont want and figured that you might wanna have them.

    all the best / M.

  • Awesome looking game Luke thanks for sharing it with us.

  • that skeleton loading thing is a reminder of how much closer one is to death after waiting forever for it to load.

  • Ha ha, nice one! XD

  • @masteriansun they should of had this for most playstation games...

  • This looks amazing! Wish there was a Saturn port or something. =)

  • Wow another cool looking game.Nice work Luke.

  • Luke and I crossed swords once. I'm still deeply confused about the experience.

  • man you can go to the bathroom and take a dumb when the loading screens on

  • LOL, gotta love those older loading times.

  • I never knew about this game and it looks awesome! Thanks for showing this luke!

  • i wonder why this was never releasd on

the Aes or Mvs ? and the bosse´s looks alot coller in this on then the first one.

  • Its quite strange, I suppose there had to be a few exclusive "killer aps" for the NGCD - prehaps the sound had to be CD based as well although it seems it would have ran on MVS/AES.

  • BTW, do you prefer the NGCD controller over the origial Neo Geo stick?

  • Those Neo Geo cd loading screens are always a delight :D

  • It's because there basic, everyone likes that XD.

  • The load screens wouldn't be so painful to sit through if they could have streamed some awesome Neo-Geo music while you waited.
