2: so my mom is pre-diabetic. if i take her to low carb, how to know that she is in ketosis or she has got in ketoacidosis? simply stated, how to make sure that the ketone levels are in range with "normal low carb level" rather than going into the bad range.. plz reply
@dildatota Again, ketosis and ketoacidosis aren't even close to being the same. Being in ketosis like you are on a high-fat, moderate protein, low-carb diet does not induce ketoacidosis. Look up bowulf's YouTube video "Atkins Diet Misconceptions: Ketosis versus Ketoacidosis" for more information about this.
QUESTION: its regarding my mom . she is in 50-something years old, and hypertensive. my concerns are
1: ok i'm young, and if i go low carb, my blood vessels are healthy enough to bear the extra ketone burden that happens in low carb, is this the same with a 50 year old person whoose vessels have lost thei elasticity.. simply: can ketosis raise blood pressure in already hypertensive people?
@dildatota Ketosis really isn't the issue here. There are ample number of studies that show low-carb LOWERS blood pressure. Look up Dr. William Yancy for the most recent research on this.
This is about kidney damage via diabetes. Wondering if the ketogenic diet can reverse kidney damge caused by other sources (high protein, medication side effects, etc.)
