  • @tenrazo215 No way in hell would I put a real gnome rotary on an aluminum airframe. They use the rotec radial, VW opposed or rotax 2 stroke engines. In the N12 and N17, one can use those, I think, Suzuki engines from a car. Little 90HP jobs, all must have redrives except the Rotec radial.

  • I'm only a wanna be some day builder / pilot. Toms Nieuport's running a VW. The Sharon Starks Moraine (right) is running a Big Twin, from valley engineering. The Red and Green Siemans Schuckert - WWI Fly-in Gardner Kansas - belonging to Marvin Story, also runs a VW, but he built that from plans, and 3 grand in materials to build! Certainly, most any of the full scale kits can handle a rotary, VW - $6500 vs $20,000 for a Rotary. Check Airdrome Aeroplane site, pics, vids, info; you'll smile.

  • @tenrazo215 I believe it's 7/8 scale. These are kits, local to my area, from Airdrome Aeroplanes. They have a number of really great kits, including their new, full scale Sopwith Camel. The clips, WWI fly-in Gardner Ks 2010, Kansas City WWI airshow, feature these kits. They even have a full scale and 3/4 scale Bleriot XI.
