  • That is such a dumb amendment. I would hate to be required to house somebody for a while. Though this looks like fun, I hope this doesn't get passed.

  • I guess it is only in Minnesota where both parties from both sides of the isle can actually have a little fun, No why can the people in Washington do that?

  • Why is everyone so angry about this? 5 minutes of fun politics. This is why I much prefer to watch the British House of Commons working at it rather than the US House because of the lively debates, opposed to boring, cold, and lifeless discussions that are now the US House and Senate. Good for the MN House!

  • Jaaab is boring, cold, and lifeless

  • I'm sure they can find some democrats to blame for this nonsense.

  • OMG, after all that she withdrew the amendment to the amendment. I was actually starting to get all warm and fuzzy about it. DAMNED politicians.

  • These guys are fucking idiots. Can they wonder why people are pist off?

  • wethepeople2013 is a fucking idiot

  • I guess that goes for polatics in general. I think it's all a big joke and they want us to vote on these people?

  • these ppl are f-ing with ppls lives

there is only so far the ppl of this country will let this go. it will blow up in there faces if they keep insisting upon this path.

  • This is another good reason why nothing real gets done in minnesota

  • waitn' for Romer to jump @ the screen

  • Hilarious political theatre...not very public spirited, sounds like the original amendment had an honorable goal. At least this is a (rare) example of political good humor.

  • What do you expect from a place that would elect al franken--berry ! lmao

  • LOL! Conservatives are so fucking funny! Oh, Jesus, my sides are splitting! AHAHAHAHA! FUNNY!

    ...actually, you're an idiot!

  • You're the child molester chester! Just look at some of the liberals:Barney frank, nancy polosi, joe biden ...well you get the point don't ya chester?

  • Ok. You really wanna go there? Lets list just a few of the Republican sex scandals out there.

    1. Rep Vito Fossella: Sex out of wedlock/drunk driving.

    2. Bob Mckee: Md.GOP bigwig: child porn videos, magazines, downloads.

    3. Sen. Larry Craig: Mens bathroom, tried to suck an undercover cops dick!

    4. Fl. Rep Bob Allen: Tried to pay a child 20$ for sex.

    5. John DR Atchison: Soliciting sex from a 5yr old girl.

    6. Sen. Vitter: Client of DC madame at night. Family values freak in the day!

  • 7. Fl Rep Mark Foley: Soliciting sex from underage pages. Boehner orchestrated the failed cover-up.

    8. Religious Freak Pst. Ted Haggard: Sex with gay prostitute. Snorted meth off his cock.

    9. Rep Jim Gibbons: Molested and assaulted a cocktail waitress. FBI is on the case. Now divorced.

    10. Christian Conservative activist Jeff Nielsen: Jailed for sex with 14 yo boy

    11. Republican party chairman Jeff Patti: Distributed video of a 5yo girl being raped. Jailed.

  • 1. copy and paste

    2. send this to 2 other videos.

    3. hold your breath for 10 seconds

    4. press refresh twice

    3. LOOK AT YOUR HANDS

  • gov't digs a ditch only to hire more people to fill it up

  • wow so many people up tight.. this bill is ridiculous. entertainment LOL hahah i had to lol. grow up people i would of been lol the entier time to

  • But this video was only 5 minutes long. Is this length of time to be considered some horrible tragedy and the conclusion that the government is a joke?? This is 5 minutes out of hours, days, months of work. The only thing that I think is legitimate to say is that bureaucracies are incredibly inefficient, and doing anything meaningful takes a long time unless the country is in the midst of some crisis (or the ruling party is threatened with losing its majority). We really need to know more...

  • minn is primitive by weather and land mass, thus the gov too

  • Good luck, dear people of Minnesota. You can sure be proud of your representatives doing their work like this ... and you pay their bills!

  • I am all for having a good time but at some point you have to stop joking around and do your job.

  • you do understand this only lasted about 4 mins right. jesus people are hypersensitive nowadays mtv did its job great.

  • Heaven forbid people spend longer than six minutes per day actually enjoying their job.

  • Yeah they had totake a 3 hour break after all that huh?

  • they love the idea.....why wouldnt they?? like they dont get payed at all? bunch of crooks

  • I think they should be required to stay with a constituent drawn from a lottery. This would serve to burst the bubble of privileged isolation and bring legislators closer to their constituents and the world the rest of us live in!

  • I know, right? These Minnesota State Reps, in their ivory tower, who do they think they are serving in government for a school teacher's salary?

I move to amend the proposed legislation, to include a provision granting "Shroomduke" the authority to dispense justice as he sees fit, and to dispatch elected representatives by the means of his choosing.

I'd also like to make a formal recognition of "Shroomduke"'s humbling wisdom, and I call for a roll call in support of the above.

    All in favor?

  • bring a pillow!

Alright whats funny is that he's basically asking to stay the night some whee... and the entertainment part is that they were throwing some... maybe sexual innuendo. I gotta say it makes me happy to see that the people here are still human.

  • What's so funny?

  • Lol, pretty clever.

  • GIve it up already Coleman

  • ouch funny

  • Wait isn't this the state that elected Al Fraken and Jesse Ventura to public office?

I like Franken OK, but if these are the people they elect no wonder this is how it's run.

An ex Wrestler and a comedian win elections.

YOU GO MINNESOTA, SHOULD GET A SITCOM.

  • OMG, I am way too much of a legal geek... I thought this was the most hilarious thing I've seen/heard all week. Literally laughing out loud!

  • Hard to say. Depends on the number of special session days, which would vary from year to year. I am sure that they shouldn't be payed extra to get the job done, especially after watching this clip of them wasting time making a mockery of reasonable legislation and making sure their pockets get lined.

  • Ha ha ha. Let's tack on a silly amendment to her amendment that saves taxpayers money and ensures we do our jobs in a timely manner.

    Assholes.

  • How much money would Peppin's amendment have saved the average Minnesota taxpayer?

  • Id love to lick her asshole.

  • I think it's great. Very funny jokes. For real, her's was a bad idea. Not practical for civil servants who don't make a lot of money.

  • lighten up, people. it's not that bad

  • babies are starving dead and dying.

  • ..and that my friends is how you kill an amendment. good old "i'm bringing the bangs back" peppin just wanted to save the good people of mn some money. this is why gov=fail

  • God. This is our government.

  • cloud52ab,

.. as a matter of fact, this has been our government as long as I can remember. Almost every state legislature in the United States on its last day of either regular or special session takes approximately one to two hours of time in what is broadly termed 'Minutae'.

I *speculate* this custom started after the War Between the States as a means of healing divisions.

It is a bonding ritual in which avowed enemies momentarily make friends.

  • Only because they are a bunch of back stabbing two faced know-it-alls. If they could deal with things in an appropriate manner they would not need this "healing". Could just be honest and forthright, but that's not how they got into government so they continue doing what worked in the past. Jackoffs for sure.

  • I thought this was the Onion.

  • LOL

    I did too

  • Don't they have something better to do. It was funny for one hot second in a corn field AND NOW ITS TIME to get ON with it. I hope the people of MN see how much these people are wasting their time and money

  • 90% of Government is irrelevant to real human needs. They're there because they've inherited power throught history. Humanity will be free from wasteful beaurocracies.

  • 04/24/09...OMG! Is this real??? 0:43 "a good government thing"?????

This reminds me of 2 things frm history: 'Let them eat cake'

    'Let Rome burn'.

Are these people making fun of us out here loosing our homes and jobs? Is this funny to them?

    Is our country a joke?????

Thank you for posting this....what a dissapointment.

Would the founders of this country be proud?

Who is really running this country ? It's NOT Americans!

  • Well it would appear that your country is a joke. But if you didn't know that already then you must be a Fox News viewer cos it's been a joke for about the last 8 years !!

  • 05/06....I should have said 'Is our 'Gvmt' a joke...and I agree it is.... Fox News, CNN, NBC, ABC on and on...then you can watch the actual hearings for the House & Senate...at first it was shocking, then apualing...now it's terrifying. I don't know how we've gone this far without blowing ourselves up. I guess as I was growing up I believed people in higher positions were more than just people.

Gvnmts are just our extended families...and you know how well family gatherings go....

  • "The idea being that would be an incentive to finish all the work during the regular session which is scheduled to finish next month"

The idea being WRONG. If you allow no financial coverage to legislators then you discourage the poor from becoming legislators and those that are lower middle class could be drawn out and encouraged to vote contrary to their constituents by the lack of pay out of personal necessity.

Way to try broadening your populist appeal Veracifier... FAIL.

  • good points.

  • We shouldn't have to incentivise legislators to represent their constituency. If they aren't willing to do their job because they feel the pay is lacking, then they shouldn't be in public office.

  • That's ridiculous! These people are working and they work hard to do the job of governing at whatever level they work at.

So essentially you're saying that anyone who can't afford not to make money while working as a legislator shouldn't be one? That's preposterous.

  • They're payed more than a living wage (31k + per diem). If they really want to be a representative but can't afford it, they can scale back their expenses and liabilities. Sacrifice and tough decisions are part of leadership.

They need to get the job done by deadline.

  • Going over deadline is part of the real world especially when dealing with complicated issues and many points of view to be heard.

If you're really concerned about paying them too much then you could propose asking those who don't need the additional per diem to make ends meet to voluntarily return or deny the payments.

Fact is that this is a populist, partisan distraction that is tantamount to class warfare and only served to drag out the late night session a little bit more.

  • Or just them making the best of a bad situation with some humor

  • the humor was meant to mock the partisan, populist hackery taking place

  • im with you! pay shouldt be the primary atraction, then it just becomes something for the upperclases and goverment should be for the people by the people!

  • paid governance is a necessity or else only the wealthy can take part.

  • it is disgraceful

  • entertainment?, yeah, beer whiskey, movies, cable tv, etc

  • Like no one else ever had a laugh at work.

  • There's a difference. These people have an effect on our lives and are being paid by our tax money. They are not in a position that should be taken lightly at any point.

  • I look forward to your proposed legislation to ban moments of levity in the workplace... now THAT ought to provide some laughs!

  • This is adorable. :)

  • More like tragic.

  • Tax money at work.

  • I have to admit, I lol'd

  • I wish I was one of these politicians, I get to talk a lot of shit, do no labor and get paid for it.

  • Seriously? They have nothing better to do??

Bachmann (R-MN) has been pushing right-wing extremist views, they still don't have a second US Senator (Franken), and this is what they're doing with their time???? WTF!!

  • At least they all know what they have to do for once and having a good time with it!

  • way to waste a lot of tax payer money.

  • wow. this was actually categorized under 'comedy' instead of 'news n politics'.

its so comedic its not funny. :P

  • That was ... different. But worth my 6 min.

  • Fuck you and your per diem. What a bunch of clowns. I have a amendment for their amendments.

  • we could have got a few more laffs if Al Franken was in there. Give it up Norman Coleman

  • That was some funny shit

  • What the ??????? This makes me mad!

  • messed up!!!!

  • Pretty cool

  • This is a goofy video.

  • wtf

  • governance in America is ... weird.
