fantastic video. I have a raven 26 mk 2.. we regularly cross Cook strait with 3 young kids on board. I know what you mean about old wiring issues. I think they are great boats for the money.
Tip my hat to you folks. Brave to sail like that, takes guts. And man, what awesome people you got to hang around with and meet. You must be good people, thanks for posting videos to make the rest of us feel good, thank you.
Great inspiration for me. I have a Raven 26 and love the idea of getting offshore. Was she/is she Cat 1? If not how do you deal with that? To see some video of mine youtube "Estelle and the Orcas".
me and my father are doing a slightly different voyage we are going california, gulf of mexico over to the south pacific might even take a long trip to japan while we on the way back in a circle cally. we are going on a 32ft how long is yours?
dude, this is one of my dreams, own a boat and sail the south pacific, then get stranded on a desert island like robinson crusoe! i think ill just buy an island instead though
Great Video, did you guys have a lot of sailing experience before buying this boat? I have no experience but hope to do some of the same things in a few years after I take lessons and learn a few things.
Hi, big swells are not really an issue apart from reduced viz when down in the troughs of a wave. Breaking waves require diffrent tactics though. The boat is 26ft overall, the design is a Raven 26. A few problems mostly down to old wiring and rips in old sails, nothing too drastic that couldn't be fixed at sea. we carry spare bits in bobs and try to plan for most eventualities at sea
Your tunes rock! The video is excellent.

Great sailing video. Most on utube are waves going by a hull and wind noise.

Hey, how was the swell in the open sea on your voyage? How big was your boat? Did you have any other problems?
Thanks :D
