It's hard to find the correct information of what was going on in a rock star's life and what you said is pretty much true but that book is pretty unreliable. 1973 was a time when the band was still trying to keep any rumor about them alive. Ive known Alice ,on and off,for over 30 years.I've seen him more times than I can count,and live in the same town he does.Phoenix,well,he's actually in Paradise Valley,a suburb of Phoenix.His restraunt is downtown here,and my friends n I go there a lot.Good food,and Alice shows up a lot when he isnt touring. I have been lucky enough to see Alice live twice. Welcome to my nightmare tour and Trash. I also managed to interview him in 1991 at the Hyatt Regency in birminham UK. his first words to me were "I'm not very well. I have to see the doctor."
He was a fantastic person to talk to. I interviewed him, then went to the concert with his manager (don't know if he still is) Brian Nelson.
@jaimelbourne Brian "Renfield" Nelson was Alice's number one fan and assistant (not the manager.) Brian had followed Alice around since the early 80s and eventually was Alice's replacement assistant, for his dedication. Brian died not too long ago (about 2 years ago) at a young age. Alice now wears a straight jacket with "Brian Nelson's Insane Asylum" on it in memory of him. Alice's managers are Toby Mamis and Shep Gordon.

Yeah, your talking about the REALLY early Alice image( 1969 - 72 ),.. I thought THAT was suposed to be a reincarnated witch? Theres a video posted here titled David Bowie And Alice Cooper in which he discuses having to dispose of that androgynous sexuality element and expand the whole horror movie thing in his act when his popularity with teenaged audiences had increased.

Alice was a master show man. His "myth" began with the "Alice Sacrificed a live bird on stage" incident, which was as he says... I had a chicken, I'm from Detroit what do we know about chickens? It has wings it flies. So he tossed it out, it fell, and the audience tor it up. The myth began and Zappa asked him if it was true, he said no I didn't kill it. Frank said well what ever you do don't tell anyone. It is great publicity. From there it just got weirder.

@LuneyTune72 That's very true, I remember a while back that there was a concert video of Alice Cooper playing I Love The Dead, did the guillotine and then the rest of the band went on still playing The Black Widow, Devil's food and then they ended it all with the drummer doing an amazing drum solo with flaming sticks....so of course, naturally, they took it down due to the copyright claims.
