You aren't REALLY unlocking your phone with this, you're just opening the carrier restriction.

The people who are really dropping money to UNLOCK their phones aren't just doing it to use a different carrier, they are doing it because they are completely tricking out the OSs on the phone and allowing it to do anything they want to, completely customize it, use any app outside of Apple limitations, develop their own GUI's, etc...

Your title is misleading, your phone isn't really unlocked.
