Something bothers you about his beliefs.... could it be that you want the peace and happiness that he shares with so many? I think so or the comment of his religious beliefs wouldn't have even came up. However, he is no different than you my friend, you can have the same.

I talked with him and found out that he just likes to explore and learn about different views. For all you know he might think your beliefs are "batshit crazy" as you put it.

@Veeskitty He probably would think my beliefs batshit crazy, since I'm of the firm view that there are no gods, and that religion hasn't been a force for good in the world. My views are similar to those of Richard Dawkins, Chris Hitchens, PZ Myers and NonStampCollector.
