  • Wow! I'm auditioning for Velma at my high school and (sorry to talk about race but) to see someone who ISNT white break through and to be so fantastic as the role (even better than the other ones I've seen today) inspires me, being a black teenager trying to get the bigger roles in plays @ my school<3 this woman (whoever she is) inspires me!!

  • where is this at? looks like the lyric theatre where i saw chicago in sydney!

  • A fantastic voice, powerful and sexy. Perfect for this song. I very much hope she appears as Velma again soon.

  • she's great!! just a few people inderstand how fantastic and magic chicago is, and she understand it! but i think pia douwes is much funnier: she has i kind of face, you laugh all the time!!! (sorry for my bad english: it isn't my native language...)

  • This lady is a million times better than Bebe Neuwirth.

  • OMG, she's so perfect !!!!!

Why did it cut away before the end?

  • cuz its a press shot...and they never release the full songs...its just little clips that they can use for commercials and stuff. which shows that they DO tape A LOT of broadway shows....

i just dont understand why they would release some of the really old retired shows that arent out anymore for dvd.

    they would make a killing.

i think that would be better then them turning musicals into movies where they just lose something.

  • this woman is beyond talented. why is she standbying tours of spamalot and not starring on broadway?

  • Because she is black and whites are rascist and jealous of black people

  • Whilst I agree that it's still incredibly difficult for black actors to win leading roles, I believe the woman in the clip is Reva Rice - a supremely talented black female who actually played the lead female character of Pearl in the original Broadway production of Starlight Express way back in 1984. She also reprised the role when the updated version opened in London in 1993 - the original production of which featured two black actors in the leading roles of Rusty and Poppa. Just a thought...

  • wow she sounded like she was fantastic!! does anyone know if she is still in Chicago?

  • I have waited, SO LONG, for a clip of Reva as Velma. She was my first live Velma Kelly. She's incredible. =]

  • shes really good. do u know if she is still in Chicago rite now?

  • I've always wanted to see a clip of Reva in Chicago,it looks like she was great.

  • So great to see a video finally of REVA!!!! I saw her on 4 occasions in FOSSE at the Shubert Theater in Beverly Hills June 2000. She was the lead...stunning...sexy...sensual...and just perfect....I went backstage to meet her. I was with a friend who teaches ballet....she was cross eyed....what a terrific talent Reva is.

  • i love the deep, grainy sound to her vocal
