It was short, but man, was it sweet! There's no one who isn't a fan of the stunning John Belushi! (And I mean it when I say 'stunning'. That moment in 'The Blues Brothers' where he takes off his sunglasses made me swoon so hard, I felt like I'd been kicked by a horse!)
It's just uncanny to see this 30 years later - I may have seen it live - I'm not clear but, what strikes me is how good John Belushi looks. He seems healthy, that's was my first reaction. It's just incredible that he died in March of '82. I tried to find out exactly what was the date of this interview in 1981 but, I can't find that information... I agree - I'd love to have them on the show these days - and I bet they are holding great parties up n heaven.
@stupidamgeit His brother doesn't deserve that. Jim Belushi isn't responsible for John's absence and putting him down doesn't prove you're a great fan of John Belushi.
@somotastic21 In the interviews that i've seen with him he does often get some little tics, so yeah. I don't know about aspergers, I have the diagnosis myself and I think it's difficult to tell if people have it or not.
ALLAH IS FAKE AND MUHAMMAD IS A LIAR,he received his revalation from a demon(not an angel)lol!!!!fuck you muslims!!!you wll all die by the hands of the americans for what you did on 9/11,mark my words..there will be revenge paid for your sins, mecca will no longer stand..fuck arabs and pakis and the whole middle east, fucking sand niggers!!l hope your women get strangled with there hijabs and your grandmas get fucked in there ass...your children will suck my fucking dick!!white power!!!
Yup, he knew. A doctor told the producers of the Blues Brothers (Dan Ayrkoyd prob included) that if John Belushi wouldn't stop using drugs, he wouldn't last more than... what was it, a year? Dan Aykroyd has balls, this shows he cared about Belushi since even here he was trying to tell him to stop using drugs. But Belushi was a stubborn fuck and died, and it was his own fault.
amazing how unassuming belushi was, happy days before hollywood actors were "perfect" looking and aykroyd did terrible crap, then again, could forgive the man anything for Blues Brothers alone!
Anyone remember the 'skit' that was actually shot on film in B/W on SNL which has Belushi visiting the graves of all the other SNL members who've all died? Belushi is the only one left alive as a very old man walking through the cemetery. It's quite moving and eerily opposite reality, since he was the first to go. Maybe somebody can post it on YT.
John Belushi was just a regular, nice and fun guy, who got involved in things that maybe he shouldn't have, but who is to judge here. I loved his body of work and he left too soon, so thanks for the laughs Mr Belushi.
@noirkitten There was no intention of ill-health to Jim there, psycho. But the truth remains, Jim is as funny as a fucking broken leg. The first person John would be knocking out would be Jim for starring in "According To Jim". If it weren't for his brother, he would disappear like a turd in a bowl. John was off-the-chain hysterical, Jim isn't even mildly amusing...
John is gone, and Jim remains. God wanted the funny one. Damn I miss this man. Belushi was human, flawed like all of us, by my God he was brilliant. And his last meal would have been four fried chickens, and a Coke. My favorite actor.
John looks out of place here, as if he didn't want to be there. He seems to keep fumbling with something in his pocket. Dan is a nice guy, and by the way he keeps glancing at John, you can tell that he is concerned about his best buddy. It would be nice if he gave John the chance to talk more. I think this was 3 or 4 months before he died.
@maxpowers518 Yeah, I agree. Clearly Dan is trying to help John with the problem of being spotted everywhere and fame, telling him it's how you deal with it.
At 5:40 it looks like John puts something into his mouth and dan give a cheeky smile when talking about how the contacts made his eyes look dilated. They did seem like really close friends, they were great together.
How sad to watch Belushi, what's up with his frigging pocket??? What's he figeting for in there? no doubt fixing for a high. RIP John Belushi, so sad to see such a talented person die so young.
thumbs up if you kind of cried when Dan says he would still be working with John in 10 years. RIP John Belushi the youth of today is forever lessor since you are gone.
I always mix up the Belushi brothers, James and John...John, had he not died so prematurely, would've been the biggest comedic star today...He was brilliant!
@fishandfestival well not today so much. IF he lived he woulda been huge in the 80's but woulda been up there in age by the time even the 90's came around. He was great though.
@darklighter1 yeah good point its spooky how hes talking about Neighbours and that Belushi wakes up and has nothing to do... it is this situation which got him back onto the cocaine.....
6:45 Dan looks at John and says "I'll be working with this guy in ten years." Before putting his hands on John, he says "If we're both alive!" Look at John's face. Damn...
@maxpowers518 ...And the way the microphone makes so much noise when he says that... I know it's just Aykroyd's hand accidentally hitting the mic, but it still sort of sends a chill up your spine, y'know? Rest In Peace, John. -_-
@johnbohl Amaze. I don't know how I feel about that. Bill Murray is the shit in that movie, totally steals the show. Belushi would have also been brill. I can't imagine them both being in it since they both play the goof and two would crowd the formula.

Wow when Aykroyd says their working on a movie where they are working for the department of defense I wonder if that was Spies Like Us?That movie would have been different if John Belushi would have been in it instead of Chevy Chase.
Wow. I didn't know Spies Like Us was written this early, as a Belushi/Aykroyd film. I loved seeing these guys again. My mom took me to see the Blues Bros. when I was 12 (my first R-rated film) and I couldn't get enough of Belushi for the next couple of years.
I hadn't thought of Gene Shallit. Jesus what a weird dude. "Hair looks like an ant farm on fire." Nice John!
I wonder if Gene Shallit was ever tested for drugs? I mean.. seriously, take a good look at this guy. Americans never questioned this guy... but take a GOOD LOOK
Dan: "I'll be working with this guy in ten years if he's still alive"... wow, that's a little erie. John went just two months later. RIP brave Samurai
I saw Caddyshack when it was originally realeased in the theaters and I thought it was great. Does that mean I have great forsight and was ahead of my time?
There is a reason the critics all panned Caddyshack. Ramis(director) decided to have Knight,Murry, chase and Dangerfield sit on a stage and address the media just before the release of the movie. They ended up mocking and making fun of the press core so the critics ended up trashing the movie.
Peter: I haven't been this scared since I was mugged by Gene Shalit.
(Scene of Gene Shalit pointing a gun at Peter in an alley)
Gene Shalit: Don't Panic Room. I'm not going to William Hurt you. I only want your Tango and Cash. So just Pay It Forward, and we'll all be Happy Gilmore.
At a private SNL party (years ago) where they had a hired band, Dan Akroyd ended up taking the mic out of the singer's hand and taking over the band! He turned that party around with his singing. This was way after Belushi died, so he was solo. He can really front a band, and under different circumstances would have been a rock star. But, the world is lucky he ended up in comedy!
I've only been able to compare Gene Shalut,to the guy on the old doritos commercial, who bit a dorito, and chaos occurred."your hair looks like an ant farm on fire!" pretty much says it all! Neighbors introduced me to The Doors. We miss you John, thanks for showing the world how to laugh at anything! "Mrs Toronto?" ..."Tarantino!" "Ma'am!"
"Neighbors" was a terrible movie. It really wasnt that funny at all. Why is it that comedians always want to be dramatic actors? Belushi should have done in Neighbors what he always does: been funny!!!

John looked fine here people. It's amazing what people see when they know the future of what happened later on.

John looked and sounded great. Can't believe he was dead two months after this interview.
It's obvious these two guys liked each other.

I wonder if Gene Shallit was ever tested for drugs? I mean.. seriously, take a good look at this guy. Americans never questioned this guy... but take a GOOD LOOK

Peter: What?

"Mrs Toronto?" ..."Tarantino!" "Ma'am!"

if we're both still alive....those words..... probably haunt dan aykroyd

"Neighbors" was a terrible movie. It really wasnt that funny at all. Why is it that comedians always want to be dramatic actors? Belushi should have done in Neighbors what he always does: been funny!!!
