  • Powell died in the second 100

  • Powell 200m?!

  • weak race, they should all lose their record deals

  • asafa powell COULD HAVE WON THAT EASLY if he wouldnt have had that tendinitous issue on his legs.. he was gone!! lol

  • Why is Asafa so lazy????????

No matter what, if you're not injured, you sprint THROUGH the finish line in any championship race. He should have turned on the jets, instead of shutting it down, and this habit cost him individual Olympic medals in both '04 and '08 in the 100 meters.

Coach Steve Francis should have sent him to a sports psychologist a long time ago.

  • @Visionary0001 i dont think you know how to run a fast 200m. the key is to turn it off over the last 80m..and accept deceleration. those who decelerate the slowest appear to be running the fastest.. its a huge illusion as the last 100m is 0.5-1.5m/s slower in speed than the first 100m.

  • wow is that asafa in a 200 lol, thats a rare sight

  • YO spearman and carter were identical that last 60m

  • Bored to see americans...

  • powell treated it like a 100m and started too fast. he should have saved more in the tank for the home stretch.

  • @danielchua2 the 200m is 100% at all time, no saving

  • @devidia

this rule only applies for national/international level sprinters...noob sprinters like me cant run the 200m at 100% the whole way. xD

  • @devidia actually its like 100% for the first 120m then 90% for the last 80m..

  • @rcaddict72 thats saying it's holding back in the last 100meters...

  • @devidia you hold more speed by resisting "straining" for speed. its counterintuitive but it works exactly like that. if you arent doing it in your current running..try it- immediate PB..i took nearly an entire second off my PB when i finally decided i'd try it in an actual meet. conversely ive seen others tie up so badly, striivng for speed, that they slow so much its ridiculous..

  • just imagin jeremy racing them on a 400 meter race lol, he would beat their asses

  • hats off to asafa he's not a 200m guy and he ran well.......you neen to do this more though asafa.

  • @AGGREYASHA he ran 19.97 yesterday...he heard you.

  • @rcaddict72 oh cool where was that race and is there a video out?

  • @AGGREYASHA ..ive looked all over YT for it- not here..it was jamaican champs in Doha (?).

  • its funny to see wariner running a 200m with people such as asafa powel. the balls on this man.

  • wow, asafa 200m.. nice. haha

  • wallace has the most retarded top speed EVER

  • @hurdleturdle300 its an illusion. but you are right..he runs the 200m like a retard. timing a stronger second half correctly so you are spent is like drawing and winning a lottery every time. when he gets it right its a good time, but mostly he finishes with left over energy. the others are slowing down, and he's maintaining his speed due to a slow first 100. a LONG time ago 200m runners realised that this WAS NOT the way to run fast races.

  • @rcaddict72 i wish he would try the 400 out. i think he could excel

  • the 200m is not his event. hes a 100m sprinter. the both events are totally different. he will have a good start over the fisrt 150m but after that he will die down. the same happens to me. im a 100m sprinter aswell, its all down to tacktics, and stamina. most 100m sprinters will have the best start untill the last 150m-120m then they will die down, while 400m and 200m specialist can keep going and wont fatigue as fast

  • I know this video is old as heLL.

    But, Powell beat Crawford!!!

    wOw=O

  • i have never seen asafa powell run 200m only 100m all the time but he needs to start 200m too!

  • "Look at my videos of Usain Bolt and pleas comment and be friend :)""

  • why do some runners start jogging and not trying on the last few metres, some times it cocts them a place, i dont mean when they lose their energy, when they stop trying even though the race isen't over yet.

  • it looked like he was walking on the last 30 metres

  • 5490368 is right...asafa powell can get tired easyily.

  • never seen asafa run the 200

  • sad thing is he used to be such a good 200 runner and he ran a 19.90 and that was like 5yrs ago...he needs to bring it back to his list of events..maybe it will allow him to be a stronger runner and ultimately a better 100runer

  • Powell got walked..

  • thats kinda true, y didnt they book that

  • carter should be dsq , look at the replay while going to cross the finish he steps on powell's lane.

  • CArter stepped outta his lane right b4 the tape...check the slow-moes, he shoulda ben DQed

  • no, he was on the line so it's alright, and his feet didn't touch the ground outside of the line before he hit the tape

  • oh aight, <=) i thought it was one step on the line and you're done.... but i guess since it was right b4 the tape, they let it go

  • kinda like tennis, if any part of the ball is touching the line, it's in. he's good.

  • I think your right he did step out.

  • yeh i think so...it's one step on the line and your doner! they probably let it go cuz it was so close to the end...but he could have been called on it

  • @Trackmaster14 doesnt matter anyway.. they only DQ you if it impedes another or is on the bend- (gives you an advantage).

  • Cool to see Asafa , wariner runs a 200m

    Thanks for the clip mate.

  • Funny, looks as though Carter ran out of his lane during his last few strides.

  • hi speedy, i agree with u totally, had been running those 200m he would do better at the last olympics.

  • O hey! It's me Asafa Powell.

I'm a world class sprinter and I never realized that before... it all makes sense now.

    Thank you speedyo93.

  • Asafa shud run more 200s in competitions to get used 2 being under pressure because he sed he doesnt like the 200, but more importantly it will help his speed endurance so then he could be almost unbeatable over 100 cos he definately has the start and top speed. Wanna be the greatest asafa? do more 200s.

  • hi speedy, i agree with u totally, had been running those 200m he would do better at the last olympics.

  • @speedyo93 wrong. the more 200s a 100m specialist does, the slower his 100m times get. its a balance of exposure and genetics. some do it reasonably well..like Bolt, others are much stronger in one length than the other. doing more 200s would not train powell to run fast, but slightly slower for longer.

  • Shawn Crawford was dirty in Athens; and now he is a joke. Retire, idiot.

  • WOw i wish i was there when they ran that race!!! its awsome

  • man if x-man work his form an run a better curve he can neat ne body.. and i mean abybody..just think he got 100, 200, and 400 meter speed tyson gay or wallace dont have this..i think he can go 19.5

  • spearmon looked over to see where carter was if he would have kept his head straight he would have won

  • he is still the greatest

  • asafa lost!!?!?!?!?! omfg man...

  • xavier carter runs really ugly; he is fast tough

  • poor Asafa.

  • Wariner run what? a 43.45;43.50 ... he should be running 19 with no problem, think about it.

  • wariner can run a 43.45 cuz his enduracne is incredible and he has 200m speed at that...but he doesnt have top 200m speed to be running 19's cuz hes just not that fast

  • go carter u rock he won that

  • Carter is my favorite. Of course I am an LSU fan so I am a little biased. Tyson Gay is a great sprinter though.

  • tyson gay would eliminate all those guys

  • Wallace Spearman is legit.

    Bottom Line

  • Xavier Carter stepped into Powell's lane near the end before the finish line.

  • Powell seemed to tighten up once he hit about 120. I don't think he was in peak condition yet at the time of this race. Powell in peak form would challenge Gay, Carter and Spearmon in the 200. Powell has a personal best of 19.79 in a race where he took it easy on the curve and shut it down at the end of the race.

  • when did asafa run 19.79 i thought that his pb was 19.90

  • That commentator is such a retard covering the finish, just starts reciting random names in no particular order:

"Carter, Spearman, and Carter, Carter, and Berrian! Berrian and Carter! lol

  • asafa straight

  • jeremy..stick to the 4

  • oooh bombo clath, what'bout asafa powell, the 200 m are heavy for him, ooohhh me no like dat, see? why the last 50 meters he has gone down? cha!!!!!!!! Asafa better run in 100 man instead yuh must be the most faster in 200 also, fuck tyson gay.... is tyson gay a gay???

  • lol wtf

  • Jamie davis runs like a pregnant lady

  • mick hynes has a gee

  • It really looks lazy but running relaxed like that helps you run faster.

  • looks like powell opened it up on the bend for this first 50m then he got his lazy relaxed stride going to 150m then had a lazy shutdown stride for the last 50m

  • xavier carter rocks
