Daddycliff you are right. the balance is tilted towards the USA. Those statistics are really good . Even if we sell coffee, tea and flowers duty free it will not help Kenya. Most of the Coffee in the US comes from south America. If kenya imported stuff worth $518million all this could be summed up by the 4 Boeing 777 that KQ bought from the US. AGOA won't help Kenya if corruption, inefficiency exists. Kenya can only be helped by eliminating corruption and letting Kenyan's solve their problems.

daddycliff. the state of carlifornia is several times richer than kenya. Let us not even mention the whole USA whose ecomony is valued at $14trillion. When Bill Clinton started AGOA it was for US to help africa and not the other way round. the only thing Kenay produces it TEA, COFEE and FLOWERS. So does 100 other countires. That is why we we'll never develop. We inport everything from planes to eggs from south Africa.

Goo1358 I know that the State of California is far richer than Kenya, In fact it's about the 7th largest economy in the world, but you miss my point which is: Ghana which was recently touted for it's good governance, only exported $199M worth of goods to the USA in 2007, while it imported $416M worth of goods from the USA. Kenya exported $325M, while it imported $584M. Dictatorships like Chad exported $2.1B while they Imported $71M. You have to have oil to benefit from Agoa, not good governance.

Go threaten Chad, Nigeria, Angola, Republic of Congo, South Africa, and Gabon for they are the only ones that are benefiting significantly from Agoa, Irrespective of good governance. How can you threaten Kenya, when it's among the top five Sub-Saharan markets for U.S. goods? For Kenya's case, USA is benefiting more from Agoa than Kenya. The trade balance is significantly in favor of the USA. So we should be the ones threatening to take our business to China, Japan, Britain, France and Germany.
