The reason why Best wore #14 a few times in his freshman year was because former Cal and current Atlanta Falcons safety Thomas Decoud wore #4 as well and several special team plays had both of them the same field, usually kickoffs. I believe that Cal got penalized for this in the first game of the 2007 season against Tenn. for a uniform penalty and this ended up why he was #14 on some of these highlights.
