meaning that time only passes when they explicitly state it does. American comic books operate on the same principle (that's how they can characters who have been around for 70 years still be in their 20's and 30's)

so Chun is about 25 in SF4. Cammy and Sakura are around 20 (Ono says sakura still wears the school uniform because she considers it her "battle outfit", yeah its a lame excuse)

@Gailim Actually, Sakura is still 16. She explicitly mentions her age in the UDON Street Fighter 4 comic when she meets El Fuerte. She's 20 during the events of Street Fighter 3rd Strike as she's given up fighting and became a P.E. teacher.

The udon comics aren't canon, it sounds like the writer simply made an error

@Gailim The SF4 ones are canon, the others aren't. How do you explain that El Fuerte met in the SF4 comics and it expanded on it in SSFIV? when the comic that featured their meeting was written before Hawk was even confirmed. It's pretty much the Turbo and Legends series that aren't canon.

that doesn't mean they can't influence the story. you often see the main story influenced by tie-ins.

Karin was pretty much created in tie-ins and imported wholesale into the game.

But capcom has said many times only things they acknowledge in the game are canon. to do otherwise would involve too much checking and editing. like some writer saying sakura is only 16 when everyone else around her has aged 5 years

@Gailim I don't see any time lapse. How come Haggar is still mayor of Metro City if it's 5 years on from Alpha where he was already a mayor and had been in office some time. I'm certain you can only be a mayor for 4 years at a time and I'm sure you can't run consecutive years. Also, Ibuki and Makoto appear to be the same age they were in SF3, meaning each game takes place not long after the other. I haven't found any source for Ono claiming Sakura is 20. Chun is also in her 30's like Ryu and Ken
