  • Brad sure can play, but damn that guitar is ugly

  • RICKOCASTER...My sentiments exactly....I have seen for the last 6 years in a row and everytime he just blows me away

  • I hate hearing that stuff is too fancy. If you can play fast licks in time and clean whats the problem. The people that say he over plays are the people that just can't do it.

  • In my opinion, why would you cover a tune with a goal of playing it like the original? Brad's guitar playing is what he's known for. It's always mind blowing and some people enjoy that. It's the reason I listen, quite frankly.

  • Why dont he just play it the way it is suppose to be played? in stead of trying to get fancy and mess it up.

  • only artist on us99.5 thats country

  • kenny aronoff on drums?

  • @keepingthebeat1989 I was wondering the same thing...I think it is. I know Kenny played drums for Johnny Cash at one time back in the day.

  • NICE!!! That was truly amazing!

  • WAHOOOOOOOOO.....love it. need to learn his breakkkkk....

  • paisleynis a great guitar player, dont get me wrong, but hes not that good of a songwriter ( alot of his songs sound the same). this is a great cover, but his voice could use a little more of a southern drawl..

  • and this is EXACTLY why Mr Paisley is god

  • joaquin phoenix did it better nuff said

  • Kenny Aronoff on drums??

  • @mrlandroverdiscovery Yup, that's him.

  • I wish he wouldn't overplay every thing...he didn't have to play it lick for lick..but he didn't have to rewrite the whole score :))

  • sometimes simple guitar is better

  • Brad Paisley is nice guy an so sound his voice... Johnny Cash was a man, a rebel and so sounded his voice...

  • I'm a die hard Paisley fan and I loved this! What I find funny though is that EVERY song he ever performs, his guitar is incredibly distinct. It could be on the radio and you'd know it was Brad :)

  • I gained alot of respect for Brad as a guitarist when I read this interview he did and they asked him if he could choose to either be a better singer or a better guitarist, he said in a nutshell "No doubt, better guitarist"...true guitarist answer

  • Im not a big Paisley fan.....but he did do a pretty good job with this. He is an amazing guitar player.....just don't care for his song choices. Once in a while.....he will come out with a good one

  • Great guitar player!, but not fond of his vocals! (better than mine, though!)

  • dammit i wish he would play more stuff like this and his earlier stuff

  • just wandering how brad willl sound while singing one of my fav cash songs a boy named sue or i walk the line

  • awesome job. Johnny would be proud.

  • he did a much better job with that song than I thought he would...no Johnny Cash but still pretty darn good.

  • @percaine no one could ever be as good as the man in black at this song but great cover

  • I love how he plays the notes with his Tele that goes well with the voice

  • O_O

  • Telecaster FTW!!! THATS IT im buying a fucken tele....

  • @1FenderGuy My tele is my best friend, get one.

  • @Zmcluvin Yes ill ask my mom if i can get a Squier Affinity Tele. I have a amp with reverb and i am waiting to get the paisley twang

  • @1FenderGuy same here! instant thought after this. earn the price of a proper tele: couple of months. learning to play like this: bunch of years. but hell, such an instrument would give me a darn good motivation... i've got a couple of guitars, almost as good to hold them in my hands as my grilfriend...

  • Amazing, perfect

  • Another great version is Merle Haggard (1960's), with killer guitar solo by Roy Nichols.

  • Has to be one of the best versions of Folsom I've ever heard... only thing missing is Mr. Cash's voice, tough Brad isn't all that bad ha!

  • Best version I heard yet ! That boy can pick like nobody's business....

  • I...touched....him! =D But really, he's truly all-around talented and puts on a phenomenal live show, and actually went out and played for the people stuck on the lawn. If you get the chance to go to one of his shows...get there, you'll have the time of your life even if you're on your own! @loopdawgg HE SURE BLEW MINE!

  • This beautiful man NEVER ceases to amaze me!! he needs to make an album of old remade songs!!

  • go to one of his shows, get up close, and he will blow ur friggin mind!

  • i hate new country. but hell this song is awesome! I'm open minded

  • @wagzlite this is not new country... it's a Johnny Cash song for god's sake

  • Paisley can play! He's not just some cowboy hat with a stage name. He can write, he can sing, and he can make a Tele do things most of us can't.

  • people say keith urban is a better guitarist but i dont think so

  • @85funnyguy I totally agree, but it's hard to compare because Keith and Brad's styles are sooooooo different.

  • @85funnyguy I couldn't agree more about Urban...the people who think Urban's better than Paisley are normally the ones who have not heard Paisley's 2008 album PLAY. Of course, there's also the fact that some people don't like actual country-sounding country music, like what the majority of Paisley's songs are (excluding a few instrumentals and a few vocal tracks including a vocal-guitar duet with B.B. King).

  • @badfinger848 Yea... Urban is NO WHERE near as good as Paisley... Though he does have some talent.

  • @justinge999 You got that right! Now, if only Urban would go back to what he was doing in the 90's--stuff along the lines of what he did in his three-piece band the Ranch as well as on his self-titled debut solo album. Then, maybe he'd start playing more guitar and stop trying to get all these pop songs to be hits.

  • Crystal river bend *

  • Nice version, but like John Turner's version better.

  • Best Johnny Cash cover I have ever heard!

  • I love that he doesn't overdo the solo...he keeps it very close to Luther's original. Very respectful tribute.

  • WOW! Incredible player!

  • wow you hear a lot of covers of this Cash classic...but in my opinion, this is one of the best. Great job brad

  • The future of country music

  • Brad paisley is great singer and he is one of my top favorite performers today and probabaly will be..... however....

the only voice that is good singing this is the man himself ...johnny cash

  • he is an awesome guitar picker!! Great singer as well! The best in country music!

  • Whatever, you don't even know what a guitar picker is. Loser.

  • well whatever to you too!! Why would you think I said that if I didn't know what a guitar picker is?!?! If you can't say anything nice to someone then don't say it at all!!!

Too many guys in this world like you! Time to grow up and be a man!!!

  • @gklein82 The Best??? I don't think, The Best Are: Cash,Jennings,Haggard,Buck Owens,Jones,Nelson,Jerry Reed,Alan Jackson,George Strait,David Allan Coe and more

  • @ItalianCottager to me he is the best so just leave it at that! I love Johnny Cash as well but to me Brad did an awesome job at this song.

  • sucha great guitaist him n keith urban

  • Not many can do Johnny Cash right. Brad is great.

  • Good stuff! just got myself a new favorite. Nice singing.

  • "Still holding on

to this album after all these years one of countrys top artist

  • there's an album of brad paisley doin this song? what is it

  • @42chaz42 Unfortunately, Brad Paisley has not recorded a cover of "Folsom Prison Blues" for any CD. However, for a while, he was performing this tune live during his shows but doesn't seem to play it live much anymore.

Perhaps one day he will record an album of all covers and this song will included...I'd sure enjoy that!

  • Finally, a real guitar player in main stream music.

  • What I mean is that there are a lot of guitar players with "real" genuine talent, but unfortunately, they don't get exposure in mainstream music. Paisley is has amazing talent, AND he's getting mainstream coverage. He's not just another 3-chord pretty boy promoted by the big labels - he's earned his place in the spotlight, and has the respect of other guitar players.

  • @Rickocaster I agree man. only in my wildest dreams could i ever hope to be as good as Brad.

  • @Rickocaster I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with being a 3-chord guy. Most of what the old greats did was 3 chords - Hank, Coe, Waylon, Willie, Cash, Paycheck and many more.

  • @ZBlackmore

You might be right about Paycheck and Cash and to some extent Coe. However, you have lost your mind if you think Waylon and Willie were 3 chord guys.

  • u did a good job brad

  • Brad's a good one. His technique is fantastic, great player.

  • thank you so mush friend for this song

    i love it

  • WOOOOOOW I LOVE THAT!!!! Brad Paisley is AWESOME!!!

  • AHHH I LOVE BRAD AND JOHNNY CASH!!!!

  • LOve it when Brad kicks his leg up!!!HAWTT!!!

  • oh yes.
