i a performance mx 950 , with a left click button which is slightly unresponsive . I havve to click the left button a few times to click the folder etc. there is no problem with the right click . how can i go about getting it back to normal?
@288SUPERGAMER09 yes I use this mouse with my iMac and it worked flawlessly out of the box. the rubber button works great with lion for mission control.
Nothing on how long the charge lasts? The Revolution would last 2-4 days on a charge (for me). If you put it in the cradle every night it never ran out of power. If you forgot, no big deal because it will last for days. The loss of the auto free-scroll wheel was a major setback imho. I have the G9x now and it's OK, but the scroll wheel works similarly to the Performance mouse except the button is on the bottom of the mouse. I never use the free scroll anymore because it's a pain to turn it on.
Just wanted to say that you forgot another feature. DarkLight! Basically Logitech's upgrade to Microsoft's Bluetrack technology. It can be used on every surface Bluetrack can, plus transparent glass! =D
Very good Mouse i got it for 70 Euros its worth the price
paint is still on, no errors, great features - for example u can add volume control to pan or mute sound function to side button ( pretty handy for musicans ) .. top class
I'm glad I saw this video. It's clear that the Performance Mouse MX is complete garbage compared to the MX Revolution. I hope my Revolution continues to work for a long, long time.
I find Revo better then the new performance mouse. I have now G700 it look better and sits fine in my hand. one min point the revo have better standby future when mouse is not in use!
@rexa06 The mouse can track on glass/mirror surfaces; that's what darkfield refers to. The word is inappropriate, since its an infrared laser with a low wave length and short amplitude-to-amplitude width, allowing it to track on any surface, really.
Nice review. I have a question though: how does it do in long term? I got a MX Revolution and it's really hell right now. I got double click issues, no click issues, it's a pain to charge the battery as it doesn't work as good as before. So, are there similar issues with the performance mouse MX?
@cheezdoodle96 well the g700 have some fantasitic discount on logitech right now, as for the shape, g700 is a tiny bit smaller, specification wise, the g700 have gaming grade avago 9500 sensor which is good for gaming (5700dpi), but keep in mind it does have acceleration and MX performence have DARKFIELD which gives u freedom on any surface even glass, so bear in mind g700 is a 13 button gaming mmog mouse, mxperformence is comfort 1000dpi day to day wireless mouse taht works even on glass.
I currently have an MX Revolution that's out of warranty and is starting to break.
I do actually really like the thumb wheel on the MX Revolution and I use it for switching tracks (clicking it pauses/unpauses the track), so it's handy that it's out of the way. It's a shame that they removed it, and the auto-switch scroll wheel, this time.
One question: is the button below the mouse wheel remappable to anything? In the MX Rev you could switch the function of that button on setpoint
@ModManKev Which stinks compared to the auto-switch for hyper fast scrolling on the old MX Revolution. I love the auto-switch when you scroll quickly and hated the need to click a specific button just to scroll faster. It sounds easy but wasn't user friendly.
@Minijohnny I agree. I use the thumbwheel on the MX Revolution for volume control and mute. Mine is wearing out and I was going to get a Performance Mouse but now I'm not so sure. It really is a shame they removed it.
Oh and the other great thing I won't mind is that it uses the same charging USB connection as my HTC EVO, which I charge right beside my mouse area so it won't be a problem at all. Now I can plug the mouse charger in somewhere else in my house to charge my phone (I still need the phone USB by my computer).
And goodbye to replacing batteries every few months on my VX Revolution. I was considering the MX Anywhere mouse but it didn't seem like an upgrade from my 1AA ergonomic and more buttons VX.
$52 on amazon today March 28th '11. Damn right I bought it I've been checking it's pages since October for such a deal, I almost gave in to buying on eBay for a nice price...
But this is a good comparison, I went with the VX Revolution last time around and love it but wondered what I missed out on with the MX Rev, guess not that much with the whole charge cradle and useless thumbwheel. I've needed a new mouse for a while so I can't wait til this arrives this week
Thanks for the review. I've already purchased this mouse after reading up on it and comparing it to others, but I'm making the transition from the Revolution - which I absolutely adored until the tracking and left click fried.
I used the thumbwheel all the time, so I'm very, very disappointed this one does not have it.
At any rate, excellent review. You noted a couple features I didn't know. Kudos!
the mouse has been used on wood for like 6-12 months or sth and now trying on glass it doesnt work, well it does work on my window glass but i got a little glass square and it doesnt track on that...
Well I'll just keep my good old MX because I love the smart shift. Makes me lazy on my comuputer. When I switch between programs it'll change the profile type and free spin or whatever I set up. Good job real review.
I am enjoying MX Revolution but it is getting old now and i am looking for a new mouce.I want to ask you this.In the revolution i use to have the second wheel for my volume control..volume up,volume down and mute unmute when pressing the wheel. With the Performance is there any way to do exactly the same without the second wheel?
Has anyone had any problems with lag? I have Windows 7 Ultimate and after watching this video I decided to buy the mouse. In-store at CompUSA was $75.00 after Best Buy would not price match Dell.com Anywho, I got home set it up and all needed software and I get a lag after I pause to type or leave alone for a minute or two... Its SUPER annoying. Its suppose to be a superior mouse yet under performs... I was reading I might have gotten one out of a bad batch... Any one have the same problem?
Great review. I have the RevMX but the mechanism for switching between click-scroll and free-scroll (SmartShift) has died and is randomly switching between the two! Looks like this won't be a problem for the PerMX so I think it's time for a new mouse.
Plus they've dropped the second scroll-wheel that I NEVER use and added an extra button instead. Much more useful.
great review! had everything I needed to know about the mice. just a suggestion for the next mouse review, perhaps you could demonstrate the mouse buttons (especially the middle/wheel button) sensitivity (how hard they are to actually press).
Middle button on PMX being better doesn't matter. You can assign the button below the scroll wheel as the middle button on the MXR and still use smart-shift. On PMX it's stuck as the hyper-scroll switch and it's not programmable.
@ModManKev Hey, awesome review, just one question, how often do you need to recharge the battery? the usb cord charger is cool but not if it means you end up using a wired mouse 50% of the time.
Thanks for the review ModMan. I am not upgrading .... I don't want to leave my automatic click-to-spin mode. I am not dropping another $80 without that feature.
Thanks for the review ModMan. I am not upgrading .... I don't want to leave my automatic click-to-spin mode. I am not dropping another $80 without that feature.
I need to know if I can find the USB connection somewhere? Mine is broken and my mom tossed it. please if someone can let me know where to find one for the Logitech Performance Mouse MX™
@rattleis69 The good news is that Logitech was nice and used a common micro usb connection to charge the mouse. You should be able to find one at Fry's.
I forgot to mention I really like your excellent review ! The warning for its bigger size and needing to try it out in a shop was too late for me unfortunately.
I didn't like the cable charging feature so I went with a similar mouse called the MX1100 but its the same with the MX performance it is TOO high at the aft end of the mouse (it feels like you're holding a shoe with which you need to move your pointer ) and I can't get used to the new bulkier shape. I ordered it at a webshop because it wasn't for sale locally so I couldn't feel it . I hope to warn other people (especially women who have smaller hands) with this as the mouse is BIG in your hands!
This new mouse could've been so much better. I'm currently working with an MX Revolution, and the lack of the mechanical switch for the scroll wheel and the overall design changes with the chrome look and the switch of the battery levels really turns me off of this mouse. The only things that'd really make me purchase this over another MX Revolution (in case mine ever dies out, god forbid) would be the charger cord and the new button on the side. The only input I use for the side wheel is push.
It really bums me out that they took they smart shift scroll out. That too was my favorite feature. Having to actually push a button every time I want to change styles seems like a real pain in the ass as I go back and forth constantly. Some of the grip stuff is coming of my revolution mx so they said they would send me the performance one as a replacement, but now I'm not sure if I want it. The new larger size also has me a little worried. Thoughts anyone? Is pressing the button really a hassl
Excellent review. I have been using this mouse for about 5 or 6 months, and it is wonderful. took me a little to get used to the shape of it, but now it's a part of me.
The thumb button along with the other 3 buttons by the thumb are also very nice.
hey nice vid quick question, i want to upgrade to either one of these two mouse all though it seems i kind of have a bit of interference, i saw that the revolution is blue tooth power and the other is just regular which one will be better i want to leave the receiver behind the pc
What about the software that comes with the mouse... is it the same? I own a MX revolution and I use the feature that makes the button do different things based on which software you are using. I can't find any information about which of today's mouse have this feature... It's annoying, why would they get rid of such an amazing feature. Could you tell me if the performance MX has it? I probably won't get the performance MX, the buttons on the side seems silly, I want my 2nd wheel back.
i also have the old mx revolution mouse and i am deciding on upgrading to the new peformance mouse. i used the scroll wheel on the side of the mouse as my media buttons (rewind, fast forward, play/pause). i was wondering if i can still use that area for my media buttons on the performance mx?
I'm a mac user, Im looking to buy new mouse because i dont think magic mouse is good for gaming and it doesnt feel right in my hand, wich one works better for mac? wich one should I get? or should i get some different mouse? im using imac
@bood3e I know, late response, but if your still looking, I would lead you towards the Razer brand. Their brand of mice are high quality for gaming, but are a little bit off with the whole "use it for everything" sort. I have found a mouse called the "Razer Mamba" which works well. Btw, yes.. the name is spelt "Razer" not Razor.
The tilt wheel is analog, unlike most other Logitech mice, which click when you tilt the wheel. With those other mice, you can bind keys to the tilt wheel on both left and right.
Are you able to bind a key to the tilted wheel (on both sides) on the Performance MX? I don't care for an audible click, but are you at least able to bind a key to each side? Reply or send me a message please. Thank you.
Nice review, however you've forgotten two features new to this product. Darkfield tracking, which enables the mouse to be used on nearly any surface
ie: glass table top.
Also the ability to use other wireless mice using the same receiver provided with this mouse :)
Pretty neat features given to this mouse, too bad they ditched the scroll wheel mechanism which enables you to adjust when the free scrolling kicks in. Having to press a button to toggle that feature will take some getting used to.
Hey man. Great review. Thanks. But I do have a question...I'm looking at this mouse, the anywhere mouse and the nano vx...My old mouse, a logitech v220 feels to small in my hand and cramps up. So, I guess I'm looking for a mouse larger than that one. This Performance looks to be the bigger of the three, can you tell me if it's the most comfortable?

He showed me some things I didn't know about that were positive for the Performance, like the analog-tilt side-scroll.
And seconded some things that were existing concerns of mine about the mouse, like the hard to reach back/forward buttons.
Piro, I tend to agree with you. The Performance isn't worth buying.
But, the video did give me a lot of useful info.

great review! had everything I needed to know about the mice. just a suggestion for the next mouse review, perhaps you could demonstrate the mouse buttons (especially the middle/wheel button) sensitivity (how hard they are to actually press).

ThatDashNoob 1 year ago
Thanks for the review ModMan. I am not upgrading .... I don't want to leave my automatic click-to-spin mode. I am not dropping another $80 without that feature.

I need to know if I can find the USB connection somewhere? Mine is broken and my mom tossed it. please if someone can let me know where to find one for the Logitech Performance Mouse MX™
rattleis69 1 year ago
@rattleis69 The good news is that Logitech was nice and used a common micro usb connection to charge the mouse. You should be able to find one at Fry's.
ModManKev 1 year ago
@ModManKev I don't mean the charge the mouse. What I ment to say is the USB that goes to the computer.

Great review ModManKev, thanks. I was trying to decide between the two & no stores around here to see them so this was really helpful.

Loosing the in-mouse mechanism and the thumb wheel makes this mouse a FAIL for me.
The only nice new feature is direct USB charging. That's not enough for me to switch to the MX Performance over the MX Revolution.
Nice try, Logitech.
FuckYouLetMeLogIn 1 year ago
I forgot to mention I really like your excellent review ! The warning for its bigger size and needing to try it out in a shop was too late for me unfortunately.
maicod 1 year ago
I didn't like the cable charging feature so I went with a similar mouse called the MX1100 but its the same with the MX performance it is TOO high at the aft end of the mouse (it feels like you're holding a shoe with which you need to move your pointer ) and I can't get used to the new bulkier shape. I ordered it at a webshop because it wasn't for sale locally so I couldn't feel it . I hope to warn other people (especially women who have smaller hands) with this as the mouse is BIG in your hands!

the program switch button SUCKS during games *-_-
frestylezz 1 year ago

I am 100% satisfied with this mouse.

can you change the dpi on this mouse, and if so from how much to how much?
paice95 1 year ago
hey nice vid quick question, i want to upgrade to either one of these two mouse all though it seems i kind of have a bit of interference, i saw that the revolution is blue tooth power and the other is just regular which one will be better i want to leave the receiver behind the pc
Ivan091488 1 year ago

Any experiences? plz respond
bood3e 1 year ago
@bood3e I know, late response, but if your still looking, I would lead you towards the Razer brand. Their brand of mice are high quality for gaming, but are a little bit off with the whole "use it for everything" sort. I have found a mouse called the "Razer Mamba" which works well. Btw, yes.. the name is spelt "Razer" not Razor.

Very simple question that needs answering!
Thank you.
SolsticeHalcyon 1 year ago
this ok for basic office/web browser usage.
glass smlash... just means youll get mediocre performance on any surface.
DONT bother with this if you need accuracy... performance Mouse MX isnt worh it... get any of their gaming mice if you need performance/accuracy.

How was the battery life of Logitech Performance Mouse MX? I plan to get it soon.
antonioreyes1987 1 year ago
