I think it's given that Bolt is the fastest man in recorded history. But that doesn't mean that Greene can't be, personally, the "greatest of all time" for someone. No one is claiming Greene has the "fastest of all time" title. They're just claiming that, for THEM, he's a greater idol than Bolt could ever be. @eagleeyejerry If you're going just by times then yes Bolt is the best. But there's something to be said about consistency. Carl Lewis won 9 Olympic Gold Medals. Maurice Greene ran sub 10 seconds in the 100 over 50 times. it's one thing to be a flash in the pan (I'm not saying Bolt is) but it's another to be consistently great. Bolt himself has said he still has work to do to become the legend he strives to be.

You can only aim at what is before you so for instance, the 10 second barrier was a goal, then anything under that. Its like R Bannister and the sub 4 min mile. It was thought impossible, yet when he broke it, three guys broke it the next year. Life evolves so does athletics and its records otherwise this conversation wouldn't be happening! lol

Also, Mike Powell said he thinks Bolt could break 9 meters in the long jump with the proper training. He already has the height and the speed. With the proper technique he could win a gold in that.

Chambers hasn't ran a legal under 10's in 8 years. I don't see Chambers in the equation. Asafa is still injured, but his failure in both the worlds and olympics is well know. The race will come down to Bolt and Gay. I think one of Bolt's training partners, Daniel Bailey or the youngster Yohan Blake will win bronze and 4th place.
