It's easy to see what's happening if you look at the bottom of the screen. Before falling into the pit Invulnerability and Quad Damage are both activated, then he fires rockets behind him so that the explosions will quickly push him through the water, saving time instead of slowly swimming.

The main reason for the decision behind not allowing strafe-jumping (bunnies) was for production values. Watching a 20 minute movie with the player constantly jumping would have been horrible.

I think it is what yantravimana talks about when he calls it strafe-running. Strafe-running is something you could speedrun with in doom (awesome), in q1 and q2 we had bunnyhopping or strafehopping.

I've seen this before. Nothing wrong with speed running Quake2 but their rules philosophy was off. They did not strafe run because they thought that would be 'cheating' since the authors never intended that, but then rocket and grenade jump all over the place. Authors NEVER INTENDED that either. Also, why use the wussy skill level for monsters. This run is a "FAIL".
