Years ago i had a radio failure on a RC ane and it flew away, it came down on a house roof about 2 miles away and took out 5 tiles!We have insurance for that in the UK but you have to be flying at a proper flying site for it to pay out ;-)

Great story. Good job it did not fly through someones window. I lost a Bearcat the same way a few years ago, but it was on a country estate so had no tall buildings next to it. I had to leave it. Well, about a year later a storm blew the tree over, The A/C returned to me but it was not recognisable as such. I never fly anywhere trees now!!!
My point being, if you get into this situation again, with your aircraft trapped in the clouds, put it into a spin by placing both control sticks full down and outboard. This should induce a spin, and with a trainer class airplane, simply releasing the sicks to neutral should be enough corrective action for the airplane to recover itself. Keep flying. That's the essence of true freedom!
In a different strain, I read an account from a Pitts (full-scale aerobatic biplane) pilot who said he was trapped on top of a cloud layer. He didn't have any instrument flight instruments to allow him to descend through the clouds, so he put the aircraft into a spin. This kept the aircraft in a known orientation (once in a spin, this aircraft tends to remain in a spin until the pilot recovers), and the pilot recovered underneath the clouds.

Yes, I have to pay for what I damage. While retrieving the plane I broke a window. I paid for it. Crashes are far are few between, especially with the more experience you have. A while back, someone put on an air show inside Shea Stadium. The guy, (an experienced RC pilot) crashed into the crowd and people got hurt. That has given the hobby a bad name. Hopefully, I will not lose control ever again. Life is about taking chances sometimes.

It's called a Superstar. It's a trainer and has a 4ft. wingspan. It's the thumbnail for one of my other videos... with views of how the camera is mounted.
