Lovely sound, nice playing, great guitar - and a classic number - thanks! You inspired me to post a video response, I hope that you like it. Best wishes, Dave (Small Days)
Great playing and interpretation...a rich and fresh approach-great feel and use of dynamics and colorful voicings. The kind of guitar playing that inspires the rest of us players here on YT. keep up the great work!
Misty is one of my favs. When you improv over these chords, do you think of it as arppegios or do you think modes? I am just getting into the theory of jazzier stuff and trying to learn. Thanks. Great job.
@stratguy888 Hi. It depends on you approach (horizontal vs vertical playing) when improvising. Usually I mix both approaches, so when playing a mode you can "see" the arpegios inside according to the chord.
Misty may be "musty", but you can't argue the fact that it's an absolutely beautiful piece of music. I do agree though..it's played entirely too much, but it's for a reason I suppose. What's nice is when you see somebody take this song and spice it up with a bit of their own flavor.
kareanflow i got your back nigga, the reason he called it "musty" is because you gotta learn it if you wanna hang with some jazz cats. obviously this video is just the melody and if this guy played a bit more we could see what he could really do............................thank you
I highly doubt that too much of it was improvised. Jazz standards like this have been outlined for years-the same old chords and the same chord melody. "Musty" as my teacher likes to call it, haha.
Ouch, man. Why do you have to instigate such harsh words :[
It's just a joke - Misty is one of the most overplayed jazz standards in the entire world. Look at the related videos for goodness sake! I didn't say this guy was bad - He's great, but it's not improvisation if you're going to play the same old chord melody like everyone else.
And there's no need to insult my teacher, he's only making a joke, get the sand out of your vag :]
Not instigating anything.. "Musty" ? Kinda instigating stand alone dont you think ? Are either you or your Teacher good enough to be recognized as Mr.Gardner ? Should not be so disrespectful. Get the Sand out of your Teachers Vag.
Hi Debray2007. It is a Gibson Es175. I sold it and now I have the same guitar but in natural finish. You can check this new guitar in my new video. Thanks for watching!
Hi Mordai22. That strange sound is a weird vibration in the room (I recorded the sound directly from the camcorder mic -big error!-). I will upload more videos with better sound quality. Thanks for watching.

To the people wanting tabs, get book of jazz standards/heads called a "real book". There are plenty of legal ones.
They don't have tab, but they normally include the sheets for misty and you can put together your own version!

They should learn how to read sheet music because Misty is a standard and is in mostly all jazz fake books.

Watch the dynamics in the beginning. Try starting off quieter and slower then embellishing into some of the accented notes then backaway again.

Sound qual is quite bad. Some weird high pitch resonance, like a string end touching the guitar or similar. Otherwise ok.
