Ok, Im not an expert but, by what I saw, this pilot didn't have a speed bar system on his glider, because if he had it he could be able to go throw the wind. It was really not a good option to fly in these conditions anyway. About the hang glider guy comments, there is no point to say go fly a hang glider, if we choose paragliders for our way of life, we have our reasons, there is no point to try to convince us that hanggliders are better. I you dont like paragliders dont watch these videos

He is activating his speedsystem @ 0:55 but it is not wise to fly in this wind at this location. His speedsystem didn't give him the extra speed needed to get away safe from this hang.
