Work on playing a groove. Less Jaco copying and just try a normal groove. Playing out of your head is really not working for you buddy. I didn't hear one useful sequence of tones or rhythms that would be practical in any kind of group setting.
@jcdentonism lol, tell that to Sean Malone (specifically of Gordian Knot), almost everything he plays is weird and out there.. almost like a composed solo!
@joerobot32 in a wider array of tones. the barts have great mids, but if you ever need those cutting highs, they arent available to you. roll the back the tone on the aeros a bit and i have a tone quite simlar to the tone i had in the bartolinis. i just think they are a better value, because of the wider range of tones. plus, bartolinis are low output, and are suggested to be paired with a preamp. aeros sounds better passive, which will save you cash. bartolinis for fretless though!
Fantastic playing & tone! I have a set of Aero Type 1 5-string pickups in my Mike Lull Modern 5 along with a Bartolini NTMB preamp (it was only 1 of 4 or 5 Mike make with that combo as a "test run") and the Aeros have become a large part of "My Sound" in my Jazz Pickup-equipped basses. In the future any custom basses I have made from Mike will have that setup: I find they have a slight bump in the low-mids as well as a slightly lower high-end compared to his custom Bassline pickups.
