Brian, thanks for all of the "Harp Porn". Man, I'd like to see the complete tunes that you and the Hellhounds played that night....good stuff! How about another progress report on Alex, you guy's are an entertaining combo...great stuff, Thanks!
cool video. takes some nads to jump in with a band. i found i learned alot by open mics when and when not to throttle up on the harp. the toughest thing is waiting to play. and when a great harp player is already up there thats when i almost hide my harps. but getting up there is half the battle. dont step on the toes of the singer and wait till its time to shine and the band is more receptive to bringing me back up. going to open mic this week havent been in 2yrs. looks like fun in ausie land
well made it to my open mic. and same nervous for the first few seconds. then when you see the guitarist give that hell ya look its all good. nice to get good feedback from guys that really know what their doing. hope to get one on vid. happy jamming to all. my best advise to the harp players is don't step on the lead vocals and try to do to much but when its solo time turn some heads and make it count and the band will always ask you to come and jam again
Awesome videos Brian, I bought my self a loudbark mic a while ago, but i mostly bash on a strat....just bought myself a Fender Bassman Reissue LTD, and I'm wondering what preamp you're using, can i use a overdrive box instead? I have a Butler Tube Driver (has a tube in it) but wondering if that would be better, dont wanna spend money on a feedback reductions pedal, they aint cheap....can't wait for more. Thanks
A lot of modern pre amps work fine direct to PA. Try the Butler and see how it goes, the common problem is having to use heaps of gain for distortion and with some tube pres this can cause problems. I use a Behringer vamp pro digital pre with a Behringer mic200 as back up and have no problems. There are some vids on my channel featuring this equipment but with a switch on your mic you will probably find your tube pre will be ok..
to see a fellow aussie, and a new south welshman at that, play with an australian sound (power blues - love that name), to an otherwise deep south united states dominated instrument, is so inspirational.
Dude! Totally awesome :)
I'm definitely gonna seriously pick the harp up because of these vids. My thanks :)
