@jamesx341 - In the time it took you to type that, you could have raised your hand and asked for help from someone that could explain this video to you. (ha ha)
Hello Tinny, I agree with you I have 12 sibblings and we grew up on a farm with no running water or indoor bathroom, our work load was very hard but really rewarding.Out of the 12 I am the only one that lives on a farm with very little of man made comforts and I enjoy life a whole lot more. Plus I know where my food is comeing from. Thank you for your 2 cents, keep them comeing.
So Tinny I think you should really post more of your two cents style videos I think you could really tell people a lot about life. I'm a college student and I have been gaining a lot of wisdom from you and you inspire me every day to get up and get out to the woods.
I really think you have really hit the nail on the head about the problems with America as a whole we all need to take responsibility for ourselves and that includes living within our means and not being obsessed with things that we don't need that help us become more of a blob on a couch or spending money on frivalous items. By the way since I can't hike all the time you have inpired me to get out and study in the woods i ride my bike to and rather than in a closed off room.
You claim to not be the most intelligent of guys, Tinny, but your wisdom usually contradicts that. My 95 year old grandfather always says that "not getting up and out around" was what killed a lot of his old buddies.
He ate a fat and salt heavy diet his whole life but his work as a forester kept it all in balance, he needed the "bad stuff". Today most of us are a lot more sedentary and could probably stand a fair bit of that "getting up and our around". Or even just washing our own dishes ;)
News Update: On March 14th, 2008, Tinny chopped his foot off with an axe while cutting wood to heat his home. He tried to walk to the hospital for the exercise but lost too much blood enroute. May you rest in peace Tinny....
Thanks --I was not scared by the doctors suggestions but It did start me thinking that I too am getting less exercise and spending more time building stoves and working on the computer, so i am trying to give everybody a headsup and help them see where this type of lifestyle is going to take us.
Hi Tinny, I have to agree with you about the sedentary lifestyle that many of us have. In fact, I thought you might actually insert computers and the internet into your message. My garage door opener is staying, my dishwasher is staying and I paid cash for my quad. But I worked for 6 hours outside today, it was -19 when I started and 2 above when I quit. Hope I don't get a heart attack.
We have it much better than the native americans. We are living in one of the few areas, and few times in history where we are not always worried about starving. As for the "Hoping that someday their Children will repeat the mistakes," well... you have a point there.
Tinny is right (as usual). We work so hard for things that will only make us fatter and less satisfied. Thank you for this post.
If you live in a big city, yes. But there are people all over america that hunt and farm to feed their families. I know a few myself.
Do some research on self-reliant living or off the grid living.
Again, no offense, but if you believe that there are not tribes of people on this earth that live entirely primitively and have no shortage of food, it is not myself who is naive. Anyone is capable of living like that if that is what he or she chooses.
You forgot to mention that instead of people 'living' and enjoying life as it was intended, they are slaves to jobs that mostly make them unhappy, and have pressing schedules. People sending kids to daycare just so they can work to support the lifestyle they live. Hoping that someday their children will repeat the mistakes.
If only we could all take back the last 150-200 years of mistakes and learned to live in peace with the native americans...and be happy with just that.
i think everyone should see this video

With a scythe and a longer hood, you'd look like the grim reaper. Mate, get out of the cold and into a warm cozy room.

Point taken Tinny! A person can't buy health and life is just too short to work all the time. Good advice for everyone.
Have a great day! (whoops, isn't that your line?)

You can live off the land (and animals) in the wilderness (and jungle, etc).
It's getting nutrients out of paving and concrete that I've found challenging.
People are dependent on food sources they have to purchase. That's why they need to work :D

I understand the sentiment, but it is naive nostalgia.

With all due respect, that is incorrect.
