  • Who needs Psychic Paper when you have a football rattle and a scarf?

  • Ohhh no! It's the attack of the killer sink drainage!

  • It's a shame they don't show other rooms in the TARDIS more often in the modern series (2005 - present)

  • I give up. I can't watch these Dr Who videos with adverts. Are you reading this youtube/BBC. I make a point of NOT watching anything on youtube that has adverts ruining it. Goodbye.

  • @YouBoringNobody simple. get mozilla firefox and install AdBlock Plus. it stops any adverts before/during videos on youtube, 4od, itv player, etc etc. and also stops any adverts in general on any website, including popups.

  • This was when Doctor Who was Doctor Who.

  • @matthewakian2 What do mean?

  • firefox with adblocker, beat the system.

  • rip Elizabeth sladen :(

  • must........buy.......wizard 101

  • People that criticize the effects of these old Dr Who's miss the point. TV was different back then. Shows like Dr Who were like plays and (just like plays) the viewer was 'invited' to suspend belief; use his/her imagination. TV was more of a collaborative effort back then and (at least in the UK) had it's roots in theatre. Modern effects are great but we are all spoon fed now.

  • @jeperstone It is never about the special effects it is about the stories; that is why Classic Who and Blakes 7 are so engaging to watch

  • @jeperstone you're spot on there.we had imagination when we seen these years ago.

  • at Juliano's fathers death scene @ 6:18 you can see the 'dead' man is breathing....

  • isn't that patrick troughtons recorder Sarah Jane's playing?

  • @20meerkat no its not , Patrick's was blue with green stripes, i think it's Jon's (but was never used) because that is jon's costume

  • RIP Liz Sladen, you were awesomely wonderful

  • YouTube, sometimes, you are awesome. Sometimes you're really not, but when you willingly upload Dr Who, you are awesome.

  • That horse chase is brilliant, i don't think any other Doctor was trained in stage combat. AWESOME!

  • TB is the best doctor who ever!

(I mean Tom Baker, not the illness)

  • @TsoLan1 We knew who you meant by TB, no worries! :-)

  • i love tom baker and Eilsabeth Sladen thank you for uploading this episdoes

  • 6:30 the guy on the left is Mr Creedy from V for Vendetta!

  • 4th doctor is awesome

  • Ugh, I had to stop and refresh this three times because it just randomly stops loading. Whatever's wrong with the interface seriously needs sorting out, or this'll never be a serious alternative to just watching illegal uploads. RE: The adverts, this is BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC. The adverts all pay back into the corporation, and mean that those blasted Yanks don't see this for free. I'm willing to put up with them to make sure there aren't any freeloaders :-p.

  • Adverts? Firefox+ABP=zero adverts.

  • at about 4:58 there was a weird sound

I thought it was ma Facebook goin off and someone was mentally messaging me

This is ma FAV DW episode though - Pyramids comes first though

  • Ha, I'm lucky! For some reason the adverts didn't come up this time, yay!

  • @FergieVLogs Probably becausevidiot mistict helped you!

  • @FergieVLogs Probably because that idiot mistict helped you!

  • @borgduck No, it was just plain luck! Yoraay!!! (I don't know why I'm still happy - it was a month ago LOL)

  • i am going to kill the advertisers

  • Why is there ads it's BBC

  • Somebody explain why the adverts when this is BBC?!

  • lol at the end when they say the alphabet backwards, baker goes 'c...b...a'' lolz

  • Adverts suck ass holes. Stupid kiss ass fuckermonkey adverts.

  • take this channel is by the bbc omg the ads r in the middle

  • take this channel is by the bbc

  • Sarah's penultimate serial, she was the best (still is considering she's got ger own show).

  • FUCK THE DAMNED ADS FUCK THE DAMNED ADS FUCK THE DAMNED ADS !

  • @FKTHPOPE Exactly. Doctor Who with COMMERCIAL BREAKS? JUST WRONG.

  • If anyone's interested- this episode, The Hand of Fear episodes 3 and 4, The Deadly Assassin episode 1 and The Robots of Death episode 1. It also appears in a couple of Annual illustrations and The Mark of Mandragora, a graphic novel sequel to this story.

  • The TARDIS Secondary Control Room. Which only ever appeared in five episodes.

  • what theys an actual advert in the video as niko bellic once said MOTHER FUCKERS

  • awww I wanted to replay the add! Now you never thought you'd hear that now did ya?!

  • Oh my gooood they've put up the classics they've put up the classics they've put up the classics aaaaaaaaaaaargh

    *faints*

  • @LongLiveHumour That was my reaction as well

    I LOVE SARAH JANE

  • I like the noise Sarah makes at 4:32 as she gets slung through the air.

  • Its slightly cheesy but I've always wanted to see the old ones

  • @MrHowdareyou Cheesy? Don't forget these are over 35 years old, with no access to the high technology and slick production tecniques that we have now, they simply didn't exist. The budget for each episode was only about £2000,and that was for everything, actors pay as well. These were very good for the time, plus of course Britain was a different place back then,T.V. only had 3 channels so programming had to be quality, not like these days,200 channels of low quality programming and shopping channels

  • @blaster2012 Im not being horrible to the old series in fact I like the old series and new I know for the time there were not as good effects and and todays tv, well its just shit

  • That helix thing looks suspiciously like bubble bath going down the plughole.

  • Damnit, the whole thing freezes if I pause it and I have to refresh it and watch yet another FUCKING ADVERRRRTTTTT!!!!!! *punches a baby*

  • @RichieTheTotodile It's meant to freeze when you pause it. Cuz it's on pause!

  • @Who7100 No, I mean, when I pause it - it wont play again when I un-pause it. It just gives me the loading icon (even though the whole thing has loaded) and doesn't actually load. So I have to refresh to get it to play again. :I

  • all looks about as realistic as a gold plated dog, but damn, its got charm, imagination, and a definite spirit of the decade. brilliant :)

  • when i tried to watch full circle it said it was inappropriate for my age. i am 13. the same happened with state of decay and sensorites. what's going on? its dr who!

  • its not an advert... its called an ident, its nothing more than a copyright mark.

its a BBC product obviously its going to have some kind of BBC logo on it.

Any other channel would have up to 45seconds of adverts before you can see the video, all BBC do is slap a 2sec ident at the start ..thats not an advert.

Thanks for the upload BBC, some new episodes with later Doctors would be good!

  • 20:29 the Doctor looked a bit like Matt Smith just then.

  • its great that BBCWorldwide puts these classic episodes on youtube...

  • 1:56 Who would have thought the Mandragora Helix was in fact a load of beads going down a plughole? :P

  • skipping, why not buffer like all other vids...?!

  • FUCKING CUNTY BOLLOCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

    i hate the ads

  • 2:03 LOL what on Earth is she doing with the recorder?! Did she just lick it? Something else going through her mind methinks...

  • @FretMunky88 Methinks The Second Doctor left it, & she found it!

  • Sarah Jane is so pretty here. She's aged well nowadays, too.

  • They wonder through The Tardis,

    and enter another control room,

but it's still a Police Box

  • 04 Sep 1976, lol

  • @peppers515 date of broadcast obviously

  • @Rmg12 i know, but it's normally says the date of when it was uploaded, not date of broadcast

  • Why is it that guy is still putting his hay in his cart when people are killing everyone around him? I mean - life or hay?

Love the monk music in the background.

  • good stuff. these 2 actors work so well together but i always wish they kept harry on a bit longer

  • I like the dimmer bulb mate. It makes all the difference when chilling out to enjoy these classics...

    Thanx!

  • lol the old doctor who's are so funny

  • i love tom baker he's one of the best and david tennant ill miss his

  • At 6:10 that's Portmeirion in Wales, the village (hotel) where locations shots for the Prisoner were filmed.

  • At 18:00 it reminds me of how Donna hated being sacrificed to the Pyrovile's in the Pompeii episode of Season 30.

  • This is an awesome episode.

  • "Whats the Mandragora Helix?" "It's a collection of those tiny polystyrene balls sinking down a plug hole!"

  • Giuliano looks like David Tennant xD

  • @ stonemonkey999 - He does from some angles

  • Why does the BBCtv stuff always stop and start streaming, I never seem to get that with any other videos on this site. What's more, these ones don't even show where it's streamed to, so I have to guess when it's ready to play.

  • 17:08 lol david t has that lol

  • bloomin love those titles

  • Tom was the best, Jon next IMHO

  • i hate the giffgaff start

  • i really liked the bit where in the new console room, there was the 3rd Doctor outfit and the 2nd Doctor's recorder

  • Tom Baker was definitely one of the best doctors ever

  • Sarah-Jane can not die, shes still in the show

  • I love the idea of the tardis being huge inside, with lots of themed rooms and corridors...never really explored as an idea often enough in the series...

  • I hate the damn adverts before the video. I got one of those "snack swappers" and everytime I go to eat an apple I take its advice and have a bar of chocolate instead. Its awful, I've put on so much weight. Stupid government advice, lol.

  • @mychemromance4 i never used to see the ads. but now my adblock plus addon for my web browser isn't working i can see it :/

  • @mychemromance4 I make a point of switching the sound off and looking away for the number of seconds they are on. If I do happen to see what they are advertising I make a mental note NEVER to buy that product on principle!

  • @berlinmitte10117 Same here! My logic is: if enough people do so, we'll stop seeing ads in the middle of our favourite programmes.

  • I saw this episode when I was 7, soon to be 8 - it's the first ever episode of 'Doctor Who' I watched on a colour telly ( I was visiting my favourite childhood cousins Vicky & Sharon, at their Mum's flat in Stratford, East London). God, I feel old!

  • pretty awesome stuff!

  • scary i was 4 years old :)

  • lol i wasnt even born xD

  • DAMN this was shown on my 3rd birthday...god i feel old, i think i'll just lay down in a dark room and regenerate.

  • @theguywhorulestheman Lol, it wasn't actually. That was when it was first shown on TV.

  • i smell time travel

  • was youtube even available in 1976

  • We didn't even have the internet or home computers back then!! My God I remember watching this as a 4 year old back then. It was also a rare glimpse of other parts of the TARDIS. And a Jon Pertwee velvet jacket hanging up as well. :-D

  • @AverageStupidAmerica I won't.

  • @AverageStupidAmerica I will go there.

  • big red twisty noise making FTW

  • Best doctor ever.

  • Lol, second control rooms FTW!

  • @AverageStupidAmerica I have never heard of such a place. Location?

  • @AverageStupidAmerica Prove it.

  • @AverageStupidAmerica Also, I'm liking the information you are giving me. However, I lack the validity of it.

  • @AverageStupidAmerica How about an Italian man, right. This Italian man has five chickens. One of those chickens is diseased. Four are not diseased. If four are not diseased, two die, the other is cured but gets diseased along with three more. Two are cured and then another one gets diseased. How many are left?

  • Are there 3 chickens?

  • @CountJoe1 I have no idea.

  • LOL

  • Couud that b 5 chickens and one Italian man. That eat one of the chicks.

Dont know could be wrong. And again like igive a shit I dont eat meat,Only pussy :0)

    peace man

  • @HELLO2YOU3 No idea!

  • @AverageStupidAmerica Okay, another.

  • @AverageStupidAmerica I knew that already. Teach me something new please.

  • @AverageStupidAmerica You know many things, please teach me.

  • @AverageStupidAmerica Haha. You said it yourself.

  • "What's that?"

Er, rice in blue water going down a plughole by the looks of things.

  • At least you spelled it correctly...

  • met dr who tom baker in all his gear fucking wicked that nd drinking with the stranglers me claim t fame dr who the best

  • Nice dress love!

  • Fuck the ads!

    Fuck the ads!

    Fuck the ads!

    Fuck the ads!

    Fuck the ads!

    Fuck the ads!

  • @MrStupidretard Spot on buddy

  • ale wiocha!!!!!!!!:))))))))))))))))))

  • i will agree that new series is a bit less sci fi than this but it still has something very "dr.who" about it

  • sarah jane needs it

  • That was excellent, much better than I remembered from my last viewing - the directing was particuarlly commendable. Putting these up on youtube officially is a brilliant idea, it should introduce a whole new generation to classic 'Who'.

  • Each to their own favourite Doctor Who generation / Doctor, but for me the latest re-incarnation is complete rubbish. Doctor Who used to be a credible science fiction show, now it is purely "childrens hour" stuff. That's fine, don't get me wrong, it entertains many of my friends kids, and thousand of others no doubt, but it's not a patch on the well written / well acted Doctor Who of the past. Unlike Star Trek, Doctor Who can't be said to have gone from strength to strength.

  • "I am not a number, I am a free TARDIS"

  • tom baker is in my top 3 doctors :)

the outher 2 are peter davidson and david tenent

  • 4:50 shut up woman and get in my tardis!

  • CBA :P haha, Tom Baker created that acronym.

  • I love dr.who.

  • Sarah Jane Smith...ahhh She kick started my own sexual development!

Made many tents thinking of her...LOL

  • Best partnership ever, Tom Baker and Elisabeth Sladen, however, Peter Davison is my favourite doctor of all time. David Tennant is good and everything but he just acks that sense of wisdom that comes with the Doctors of old

  • I love the 70's era!! Tom Baker had alot of the best storys ever!! and I wish I could see the entire Patrick Troughton era!! I bet everyone here wishes that as well!! why couldn't episodes of crap like Corrie Street be lost instead :)

  • is the stargazer villain played by an actor from Dads Army?

  • Yes, "Private James Frazer" whos catchprhase was "we`re all doomed!!"

  • :D.

  • them voices are too pompuous?

  • Much better that the shit that they call Dr Who these days.

  • Definately! and it makes me laugh how people go saying David T is the best ever doctor and Rose is the greatest sidekick!!?? then you find out they never watched a classic Who story!! todays generation are abit dime!! they think CGI makes a good story?? when I was a kid, Peter Davison was my doctor! BUT I respectful enough to look back check out the first 4 docs! they were all great! didn't mind the B/W as well :) but todays kids!! oh dear! they snub it

  • I am part of todays generation and would agree that most of them are dim. There was no doctor when I was wee because it was cancelled in the 1990s so I watched re-runs of all the old doctors and I just don't like the new ones, the strories are terrible, the acting is awful and the CGI effects are more laughable than the 70s plastic and cardboard effects. Also you are right Rose is crap; I prefer Sarah Jane Smith ect.

  • Classic!

  • richard dawkins is married to tom bakers ex wife. she was also one of the dr,s assistants.

  • wow i did'nt know that, shes obviously attracted to men with high IQs.

i laughed when i heard tom baker lived in a church yard and couldn't believe he used to be a monk

  • Oh look it's Blackadder

  • I remember being love sick over one of his assistants and i was only 12 as i remember she was a princess and wore cord trousers, i was a pervert back then

  • Lol I remember watching the Doctor Who Omnibuses on UKGold or whatever it was that played them :D

  • Tom baker was the best and his female assistants were the sexiest

  • What a coincidence that the BBC has decided to upload this particular Classic Dr Who episode, since I had wanetd to see it ever since I got back from holiday in Port Meirion in Wales in september, where some of this story was filmed Thankyou BBC!

  • i love tom baker, he is awesome.

  • doctor who said CBA :L

  • @theonlyonebuttwo lol :P

  • Rapists used to be more majestic back then : /

  • Maybe they're being nice because it's nearly Christmas ??

  • Please BBC can we have more like this from old Dr Who's

  • Did she just eat the orange peel? :P

    Love classic DW

  • No, she ate an apple (:

  • Why are the BBC being so kind by uploading this all of a sudden?

Have they been knocked on the noggin'??
