how can a book and movie full of lies be so popular shame on you khaled for making our country look bad and bring fake stuff in your book to sell your books
This book was phenomenal. Very powerful and moving. I haven't seen the movie. Is it worth seeing? I know sometimes movies don't stay true to the book...
I love this book so much! I cried like every chapter! It got sad, sadder, saddest, then happy, sad, sadder, holy shit what is this?, kinda happy at the end. A beautiful (and frankly scary) look into the eyes of Amir and how he became good again.
I loved the book and watched the movie. The person who played Hassan was really great... though everybody was great in this one! A really great book that has been turned into a very good movie!
Like the book states at the beginning: There is a way to be good again :-) Excellent!
I just read the book a second time and it wasn't the war that drove them apart, it was Amir's great sin that did. Did anyone see the movie? Do they cut out the sexual assault in the beginning?
@AiniShafi But he's reffering to Amir's sin, the sin of him watching Hassan get sexually assaulted but not doing anything about it. Im guessing you didn't read the book
reading this book for my year 12 english class right now and only just finished chapter 10 one of the most sadest books ive read since chinese cindrella!!
I read this two weeks back. I did cry. And this trailer omits the most important part of the separation between Amir and Hassan- the emotional one after what happened in that alley.
Just finished reading this for English....I'm so glad it was assigned. I know this video doesn't get much traffic since it's old, but for anyone reading this, the books are beyond amazing. I am an 18 year old male Senior in high school, and I cried twice. Ten thumbs up.
"I dream that my son will grow up to be a good person, a free person, I dream that someday you will return to revisit the land of our childhood, I dream that flowers will bloom in the streets again, and kites will fly in the skies"-
I read this book today... I can't remember when I've cries as much as when I was reading it. Maybe the best book I've ever read... Or ever will read. I have to see this movie. Khaled Hosseini is really genious. "A Thousand Splendid Suns" is amazing too.
I am creating a seminar presentation about whether or not A Thousand Splendid Suns can be interpreted into a sitcom. Do you believe it could do so?
Last year i had to read this book for English, I didn't like reading books at the time, but instead I decided to read the book and I couldn't stop reading it and stop crying.
I will say this that this was my favorite book that I've read in my life
I'm being forced to read the book for English... I just can't. I'm at the part where Ali and Hassan read and could not stop crying. I literally cannot continue reading this because it's so sad :(
@marzipin i feel u. i stopped reading it after that part for a while. but i started reading it again because of my unstoppable curiosity. u should try to continue.
Fuck I hate the taliban I will not rest until every last taliban swine is exterminated. They execute their own people and instill fear in the locals, they are cowards and pigs
I just finished a thousand splendid suns. I don't know which book was better, but I do know that Khaled Hosseini NEEDS to write another AMAZING book. :)
I dunno why some people hate the movie. It's a great movie actually. The movie may be a little different from the book. Makes me wonder if people would hate the book if this movie had came out first before the book. And just another thought, if this is such a bad movie, why did this movie get to be nominated by the Oscars and BAFTA?
I just finished the book 10 minutes ago, and it was incredible. Watching this trailer was so different, still looks good though, and I still teared up. But I recommend everyone to read the book. Insanely good.
this is legitimately one of the best books i've ever read in my life. if you refuse to watch this movie, at least read the book. it's worth your time.
Instead of the taliban being the enemy in this movie, they should've replaced them with western foreign western invading forces such as the US, UK etc.
I have just finished reading the book and thought I should check out the trailer... It looks absolutely amazing and everything in this trailer stays true to the book, even the way the characters look. I hope the movie is as good as I hope it will be!
This book is a modern classic. i haven't seen the whole film but certain details from the book have been captured very well. For instance, Hassan turning his head from side to side while running. I hope more such moments are captured in the movie especially, Hassan's innocence.
FML i regret watching the trailer without finishing the book. Way to ruin the whole book because of this. I did not cry whatsoever, the trailer is just so wrong, why would they spoil Hassan's death. I thought he was the best character, not Amir. Amir sucks! he's gayer than any character in the book. Just sayin'. =/
why does it go to the part when hes grown up so early in the trailer. That's like near the end of the movie... they need to include parts from when they are children. And this trailer doesnt reflect the true meaning behind this movie.
@abijkdefm Thats different, im not talking about erotic pleasure novels. Its pretty much your own movie in your mind. Im sure the movie is good, but the book is better because it more of a experience you know? Plus movies tend to leave out ALOT of scenes and parts that really give the story character in the book.
"I dream that someday you will revisit the land of our childhood, I dream that flowers will bloom in the streets again....and kites will fly in the skies"
@starsoverthere I hate people when they are overreacting, your comment is so exaggerated, i wonder how did you visualized the story when you were reading the book. you are disappointed because you did not see a unicorn in this film. period!
@pachelbelscanon81 Except it's true. The book is always more in depth than the movie because it can be. The book has more meaning. Movie's often change things which looks like they definitely have for this one. Kite Runner is an amazing book, and it's not unusual that this person would find it a disappointment. In movies you don't get to really hear the character. I'm just saying that they are not necessarily exaggerating. Sometimes it's just the truth.
@yeeshoelaceX I had about 150 pages left in the book and had just read that part. So as soon as I saw them mention it, I immediatly closed out the window and finished the book. Stunning how they just give it all away in the trailer like this.
@maxcor3 only those that are a reality in this world. you shouldn't shield yourself from what is happening now. it's time to expose yourself to this broken world.

@brackman64 there is one important part in the book that is not mentioned in the movie. everything else is spot on though. so if you can get information when *SPOILER* sohrab tries to kill himself then yes you could probably get away with it
Thank you for posting this preview. I am a big fan of Khaled Hosseini, and I have a few comments. How can that be Amir? He looks just like Hassan! I thought there was supposed to be a difference. Also, it looks like Assef is so scrawny and stupid. His character intimidated me so much in the book, and that guy looks like a little pipsqueak.
@esscookbabes yes! :) I read only like 6 chapters (so far too haha) and it was good, but slow so it's hard to get into. so i watched the movie so i'd know what to expect. try it!
@esscookbabes: It is very slow... I am at p. 164 and I still find it relatively slow although there are chapters where it went quickly.. others didn't but I enjoy the symbolism the author puts
The movie eliminates many symbols and scenes that were important to the plot of the movie. \it has much less detail than the book. I liked the movie but prefer the book.
I read the book. Unforgettable. This has to be my second favorite book right after The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I would love to watch the movie even if it's probably missing some parts.
@jerrycrus It's okay. I just don't find male rape victims funny, and I feel like I'm in the minority on this subject, so I'm a bit touchy on this matter anyway. Plus, this is Hassan's son we're talking about, meaning what's left of Hassan, and Hassan was this precious little sweetheart, so for all that bad stuff happen to him was horrible.
it´s a great movie!

The movie eliminates many symbols and scenes that were important to the plot of the movie. \it has much less detail than the book. I liked the movie but prefer the book.

I read the book. Unforgettable. This has to be my second favorite book right after The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I would love to watch the movie even if it's probably missing some parts.

this movie is bullshit, filled with lies and dumb stereotypes that contradict themselves.

@jerrycrus LOL??? You think this is funny?!? A sex slave, regardless of his gender, is not something to be laughed at.

im sorry
jerrycrus 6 months ago
@jerrycrus It's okay. I just don't find male rape victims funny, and I feel like I'm in the minority on this subject, so I'm a bit touchy on this matter anyway. Plus, this is Hassan's son we're talking about, meaning what's left of Hassan, and Hassan was this precious little sweetheart, so for all that bad stuff happen to him was horrible.
