if anyone were still to read these forums; I have stainless steel 6.3, I've downloaded the 'mod'-version and replaced everything with C:\... in the cine-ed_edit.cfg with the pathway to the mod and the replay folder. (it's on my D:\drive, had to make room for steam :P). It only starts up a fraction of a second before it crashes, I'm doubting wether it has something to do with the 'camera' or 'dir' lines...

ok, i have version 1.3 of medieval 2 total war and have downloaded the cinematic editor files and extracted them etc. However when it comes to trying to use the cinematic editor, all i get is the medieval 2 load up screen and then it crashes to the desktop. I've had a look around on the faq but none of them seem to answer my problem.

Any suggestions?

well i tried to do this but when i run the editor it comes up with the screen then just closes it a few moments later. Also i made sure i had 1.2 installed first and it didnt work, so i installed 1.3 and still didnt work, bearing in mind i did do a new custom battle and saved it and replaced the name in the notepad file every time. i dont know what to do

The [problem is the c;/ program files (x86) thing.

You need to get rid of the (x86) so it looks something like

file = C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\replays\abc.rpy

camera = C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\cameras\.

I even unpacked all the files to see if the cine ed was in there after 1.2 patch and no luck.

It damaged my installation so ive uninstalled it all..

After research there is a 1.3 patch for Rome Total war that apparently has the cine editor in it.

I'm guessing its exactly the same thing.

ich bin kein profi in english und deshalb wollt ich mal kurz fragen was das heißt: (is aus der FAQ) 3) If your PC is too slow to play back the big and uncompressed rendered video files you should try and compress the video first.

4) When you export the rendered cameras into Adobe Premiere, make sure that the alpha channel is disabled. It let your scenes turn out black.

@ThirdAgeTotalWar1 Die Datei ist nach dem rendern nicht komprimiert und so groß, dass die meisten pc's sie nicht wiedergeben können. das bedeutet, du siehst ein stockendes oder ganz schwarzes video, wenn du es nicht vorher komprimierst (zB mit movie maker).

@ThirdAgeTotalWar1 musst du selbst ausprobieren und für dich herausfinden. im cine-ed selbst kannst du sie ja nicht komprimieren. das musst du mit den fertig gerenderten videodateien machen. lad sie in dein videobearbeitungsprogramm und wähl ein format (zB avi oder mpg) und eine auflösung (zB 576x720) aus und eine bitrate (musst du nicht immer auswählen) und probier ein bisschen herum wie dann die qualität von dem video wird, nachdem du es gerendert hast.

Alternativ kannst du TAB drücken um in die Kameraperspektive zu gelangen. Mit den Tasten ß und ´ (rechts neben den Zahlen 1 bis 0) kannst du zum vorigen/nächsten keyframe wechseln.

@Joschiking Jetzt kannst du die Kamera mit den WASD- und Pfeiltasten bewegen. Beim zweiten keyframe kannst du jetzt die Kamera an die Stelle bewegen, an der die Bewegung zu ende sein soll.

Vorschau der Kamerabewegung: zum ersten keyframe gehen (mit ß) und dann Leertaste drücken.

Alternativ kannst du mit der gedrückten rechten Maustaste über die Zeitleiste gehen um die Kamerabewegung anzuschauen.

Mit dem play-button kannst du die Szene abspielen (nicht in pause wie bei Leertaste).

@Joschiking Mehr Effekte können durch Anklicken der kleinen Kästchen aktiviert werden (FOV, Roll, Noise Amp etc.)

Jetzt gehts darum, die Szene zu rendern (als Videodatei zu speichern): render cordons (schwarze Balken am Rand der Zeitleiste) mit der Maus an die Position ziehen, die gerendert werden soll. Vorher mit dem Mausrad aus der Zeitleiste raus-zoomen. Danach nochmal rein-zoomen und feinjustieren."

It's an intimidating Program, no doubt about it, but if you can stick in there, you can honestly make a stunning movie.

I managed to make a braveheart like movie, it was about 11 minutes long and took me about 2 and a half hours, so that's not too bad.
