Normally it's random, but if you have the ability "boost" equipped it's "full version", same for the little girl(Eiko?)

It's not the same Garland, at least I don't think. Cuz in the first FF, he was a knight in the Cornelian Army, corrupted by the four Chaos Beings (Lich, Kraken, Marilith aka Maliris, and Tiamat). When you destroyed his Chaos form, you destroyed the time loop he created, thus returning him to normal before any of it happened. In FF9, he was a genome created to control the flow of Gaia's souls. I think the developers gave him his name in a respectful nod to the first FF.

But the main thin gis that FFIX did ore than anything was reminisce on the older FF.... I think they like to pull from their roots... not try to be politically correct all the time..

Lich,Kraken,Marilith,and tiamat were all in FFIX,and garland too...Probably its same garland without helmet,probably time has passed and hes old,probably the 4 fiends revived him again.who knows?

Patience please. Like how I did my FFVIII videos, I'm doing all the bosses on the fourth disc. There's 7 bosses beofre Trance Kuja: Nova Dragon, 4 Chaoses, Doom Gaze and optional Hades. So I'll get to him in 7 videos (I already did Ozma; no way in hell I'm doing that again).
