on my fs9 the princess juliana airports gates are way to small for a 747. is your version of the airport an add on. oh and what was that big beeping noise at like 1:20
setting the flaps he has pmdg like me they real sounds i swear the default 747 is sooooooo fake but the pmdg is great in take off and approaches and maintaning speed in ils unlike the default. the pmdg if it goes below speed the throttle quickly goes back up but the plane isnt jerky
also the A-340 landing was more realistic than the 747. I mean the point of the runway which you landed on and how smooth it was and the approach. Great landings and vid!
Mad video man, just one question, how do you look around in the cockpit like you did in FS9, because i've got it and i cant figure out how to. PLz reply-thanks!
use the hat switch on your joystick (if you have one) if not, you can buy a program called active camera that will help you look around the cabin and stuff
spoilers work just like flaps but instead of increasing lift+drag, they decrease lift+drag. When you touchdown, they auto deploy (if armed during approach)and increase the overall efficiency of the brakes.
Um spoilers are normally always used in commercial aviation. You don't want your plane bouncing back up again, and it does help you brake, but barely.
Don't use them in flight. Of course that doesnt help. What you want to do is hit shift + / and that will arm auto spoilers, so when you touch down, they deploy. They're always used in real life, and I use them on every landing I can. If you absolutely need to use them in the air, use flight detent.
Close to the stall speed...but I wouldn't say you HAVE to stall it. I've been on plenty of jumpseat rides before 9/11, and i've observed on many occasions pilots landing at least 10-15knots above stall speed.
To stall the aircraft means to lose all lift from the wings, and the aircraft will effectively drop like a sack of potatoes. If it was the case that you had to stall an aircraft at touchdown, then there would be no need for spoiler deployment on touchdown.
spoilers also help with air braking though, and you still can ride jumpseat in planes, you have to work for the company however, my mate rode shotgun on a 737 just te other day, wikkid aircraft, hes going for his CPL though, i hate most pilots myself, engineer and all..
Very true they do..but what I was getting at was that there would be no need for deployment upon touchdown if it was true what he was saying. Air braking is pretty much useless on the ground...thats what the auto + footbrakes are for one would think.
I say Airbus wins this battle because of its cabin AND its easy and responsive controls
If it were to be a 757 or a 777 boeing will win because of it

Thats what i thought

No, he told him to retard.

which means slow
jesusrulesflight 4 years ago
Nope, it means to gradually reduce.
ScottsOne 4 years ago
yep, A343 has very slow climb rate with its underpowered engines

spoilers do help braking on the ground, but mainly in smaller planes, so they stay on the ground . . .
Anyway, nice vid, but in the A340, you were a bit low on approach.

Barely? I tried puting the spoilers up brfore I touched down and I dropped like a rock. I crashed. They really help you stop.

exactly. Spoilers reduce lift on the wings.

Weird... I've never had that problem landing 747s at St. Maarten. How much fuel did you have in there?
ptroinks 5 years ago
The problem with 747 was the "KaiTak way" approach xD
gds1847 5 years ago
When you land you actually have to stall it at touchdown...(My dad's a pilot)

gds1847 5 years ago
is sink rate bad?
JJ2422 5 years ago
Yes, you "sink" too fast (need more knots), 140-150 kts for landing is ok
chris08712 5 years ago
The rate descent in final app was deliberate to correct the glidescope. I cant make a middle rwy touchdown in SM with a 747.
