  • One of the things I hate about DraTS is they rarely sang harmony, and they sounded damn good that way!

  • I can't believe these girls including the Marvelettes (who refused the song) thought this song was infantile. Baby is a synonymous meaning for sweetheart in this song, not infantile, or juvenile

  • It's hard to hear Flo's voice, but it is there. This is when they were at their best, cause I could never hear Cindy.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this version!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!! This is the very 1st time listening to The Supremes singing this beautiful, all-time classic best-seller in acappella!!!! It's DA BOMB!!!!

  • AMEN!!!! So sick of all that over singing. Riffs with no meaning. Jackie and Stevie know how to riff it as does Aretha, but you can hear a song there. Some of our modern "soulful" singers are vocal gymnists, perhaps Olympic bound but a zero when you compare to the originals!

  • ACAPELLA IS ABSOLUTE NO MUSICAL ACCOMPANYMENT

  • This was the first Supremes' record I purchased (not the acapella version, of course)- the summer I was going to the 10th grade - had it on a 45 - played it to the white groves. But, this is great - showcases Diana's soulful, silky, smooth sound and the impeccable harmonies of Flo and Mary.

  • Sorry guys but I don't hear Flo anywhere on this song. All I hear is Diana on leads and Mary singing the backgrounds in some kind of echo chamber. If Flo was ever in these sessions they probably edited her out at the end. It's not easy to cover Flo's voice no matter how far from the mike they placed her. Mary's sound was perfect for this cut. Those "baby babys" are sexy and almost hipnotic.

  • @TELESUPERSARA Just because YOU don't HEAR Flo's voice doesn't mean she's been edited out. This is not a movie.

  • @CheckMate657879 Who said anything about a movie? This is a perfect Motown pop record that has remained popular for over 40 years. All I'm saying is that I don't hear the magnificent Flo on the background. It is Mary alone and doing a fabulous job with those "baby babys."

  • Hey,i remember posting about a year ago that Faith Evens would be a shoe in to play Flo in a movie.Alot of people agreed and posted similar things,Well, someone must have read it 'cause Miss Ballards daughters summond Miss Evans to the part.Looking forward to it.:^) Now,from past interviews let Miss Ballard tell her own story.Good job ladies & thank you....

  • Florence typically had to stand way far from the mic as her force is so strong. i can hear Mary so clearly. Too bad Diana is such a bitch and we will never see the Supreme's perform live again.

  • I remember years ago, like the 80s, listening to a radio interview with Lamont Dozier & he was saying orginally this song was going to be lead by Mary Wilson, but then they finally agreed with some upper heads that Diana Ross would do the lead. One of the Hollands kept insting for Mary, but lost out. So they put Mary's voice closest to the background mike & put Florence Ballard behind her to fill it out more. He said they wanted a smokey sexy sound. So Mary complimented that flavor for Diana.

  • @SWDetboy I like this...I like this ALOT! =D

  • Florence is on the Song. She is heard more prominently on the Instrumental

  • I think I hear a "second" voice at the first half, I could be wrong. But Flo is nowhere to be found during the second half at all.

  • I've long though that it is just Mary in the background and you maybe right qbz181 Florence may not be there at all.

  • That's what I've always said. I have been hearing this record every since it came out in 1964 and I have NEVER been able to hear Florence Ballard's voice.

  • are we sure Florence is on this? I really dont hear her at all.

  • This song was edited, if you listen carefully you can hear the music in the background.

  • well hate is a strong word,but u know what I mean.

  • you can really tell that they hated this song! this is so cool,.

  • good voices, excellent song,

  • what happened to Flo with the background vocals?.......mary just took over.

  • You could tell from the acapella that NONE of the girls were pleased with the song, they sound bored! LMAO! And ironically this gave them their first hit. How about that!? =D But it's still a classic. =)

  • I don't know if it is possible, but these acapella videos are making me an even bigger Supremes fan.

How are these videos produced or made available?

  • Genuine acapella consists of voices only whereas in this video, instruments are clearly heard in the background. Perhaps somebody simply remixed the track to bring the voices forward in the mix and push the backing track way back.

  • um apparently i already know that bastard took advantage of her and what does my dick have to do with this

  • i dont know what some of you guys are talking about. yes, you hear mary more than flo because flo's voice overpowered mary's at times. but that echo on "where did our love gooooooooooo", that's flo.

  • Yeah, Flo's there. I think we hear Mary's kind of husky alto more in the regular mix. In this friend's mix you can really hear Flo!

  • Mary Wilson's baby babys, oohs & Where Did Our Love Gos are irreplaceable..

What a magical duet this could be if

Diana & Mary could give it to us today..

  • @motorcitymiguel , Not really. They both sound like hoarse off key cows now.

  • Does anyone know why Mary is pretty much doing to the background ( and very well I may add) by herself. Why did Flo not sing on the second half of the song?

  • I think it was just a case of the producers favouring Mary on the backing of this particular song - Mary's voice was smoother and sounds GREAT behind Diana on this so I guess they had her stand much closer to the mic than Flo.

But on BABY LOVE they had Flo stand nearer to the mic so that she dominates the background vocals rather than Mary - it was just a case of who sounded best on what =)

  • @carolinaguy321 , You can't hear Flo cause her and Mary are singing unison, and Flo is singing behind Mary so her voice is more faint.

  • yeah I hear Flo but barely. She's in there that's for sure.

  • Flo is there, this one of the times when Flo was further away from the microphone so that she wouldn't over power Mary in the background. There is no harmony in the background to the voice sound simular. The echo you hear is Flo cutting threw.

  • This is nice, but I only hear Mary and Diane. Where's Flo?

  • She was there at the beggining but she disappears halfway through.

  • Actually...after listening to it again...she's not even there! :s

  • @stawberry19919

Like SWDetboy said, Florence is there, She's just behind Mary too fill out the backing.

Don't worry, Florence is there :L

  • @SinclairisCool Oh! Thanks! I know she is....NOW! lol. It was just all soo confusing.

  • Where is this photograph from? I love to see new photographs of the ladies, they must have hundreds of thousands

  • Yes. Many of the pictures we see of the Supremes most often are of poses that Motown made most of its (girl) groups do. It's been said that when Motown officially shut down, people just tried to leave in a hurry and thus destroyed or left to rot A LOT of original, irreplaceable pictures. Surely some Supremes pics were among them if this is true.

  • Barry must have a small dick, but that bug eyed bitch was so willing to ride and suck it just to be on top of her game....Nasty ass bitch who would fuck this beetle

  • Dude!!! Is everythin about sex??? You're gonna catch an std if you don't stop! LMAO!! LOOOOOL!!! ROFL!! I would delete your comment but I need to laugh!!!!!!

  • I don't even want to click on your name!!! I'm afraid of what I might see!! LMAO!!

  • Good! That means I don't have to see it!
