  • I LOVE GRIEG SO MUCH!

  • watched this 4 years ago, watched it 3 years ago, 2 years ago, last year, many times and still love it. Could you please re-upload it somewhere else please, in HQ? :)

  • seriously what kind of school is this?! at my school we only had like one chinese girl who could play the keyboard - and not very well at that!

  • For a school orchestra, this is absolutely amazing.

The pianist is extremely talented as well.

  • nice! though i think this song is a very passionate song better suited for women (just imo)

  • My music teacher got a new piano delivered to his music room. After several hours putting it together, he sits down at the piano, and turns it on. Everyone who's doing extra music all crowd around.

    "Play something, Sir."

    (He played this :D)

  • orchestra is awful but the pianist plays really great!!! fantastic piano playing among false tones of orchestra...

  • mad skillz

  • GREAT PERFORMANCE, a bit fast but well, i think it was great ^-^

  • Love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • =0

    Impressive!

  • If anything, listen to your phrasing better, especially at 3:02 and 3:15.

  • The piano sounds like a seperate orchestra. Very powerful and magnificent sound. Great performance.

  • the video doesn't has Cadenza, or the performance has not ?

  • look at parts 2&3

  • @ytkRis S you reminded me of my mother she graduated at conservatory of music 1960's she got it and finished only 3 years at your age

  • Very well played for a school band, the only thing i would say the tempo was rather fast, but still it was a good performance 5 star :)

  • wait is this high school??? the kids look so young i thought this was some professional orchestra or at least some conservatory........!!!!

  • That pianist is exceptional!

  • @NickXDDX check martin garcia garcia only 12 years old playing the same edward grieg concierto big G

  • OMG, nice one.I play piano 8 years (now i'm 16) but ot perform like this...bravo!

  • if you really are That, you wouldn't be there, sit in a computer, you wouldn't may be in you own home, don´t you think?

  • herte shit

  • (L)

  • omg I have been looking for this piece, Icould hum it, but I didn't know the name

  • wow, for students of this age attempting to play a Grieg piece i think you did extremely well, you did the piece justice!

    bravo

  • He was 19 at the time...that's not that young =P My friend who's 15 plays this piece and quite well :)

  • 19 is young in the grand scheme of things.

  • wow man you rock... respect cus im doing the same with my schools orchestra... hope i do as good as you =)

  • wow

that is very very very good

    gosh!

  • Congratulations! All the members of the orchestra look very professional. I don't care if other compositors are more difficult, you all did a great job!

  • By the way; not nearly as hard as Prokofiev, Rachmaninov or Tchaikovsky pieces...

    But a good job overall.

    Go kids!

  • Wonderful! Maravilhoso! Congratulations from Brazil!

  • extremely good piano playing for a high school student.

  • UHM These are what High school kids?

Lighten up people I think it's a rather good rendition. Grieg is not easy.

  • gratulations :))

  • too fast.... relax!!! Soon yo will learn that speed is not the better way to perform....

  • .....orchestra is soo out of tune..

    &

the piano could be a bit slower at times as well

    but it's pretty good overall

  • Unfortunately, the orchestra does not follow you properly.Your technique is superb.

  • 3:44

  • Incredible playing.

  • really good...

  • lol i can play this on the piano :)

  • Beautifull :) I love this concert =)

  • ...but still really good! : )

  • Waaaaay too fast for this piece.

  • gifted child. :)

  • nice. I just saw this on a Land Rover commercial, heh

  • amazing job!

  • you can hear that this is not a Norwegian artist that plays. listen to the start with a norwegian and then you know.

  • that's a very good interpretation - there are professional orchestras that play much worse... if I think at our Weber- Bassoon Concerto - that's a level that we won't reach in five years practicing that peace - fantastic!

  • This is REALLY good for a school Orchestra. And the thing you did with your pinky at the arpeggios was cool.

This piece is a monster to learn.

  • god DAMNIT lol you scaled up that piano at the begining like ALL HELL god, I can't wait till I can do even half of that speed that you just used rofl.. well I'm getting better, but it's a lonnnng time before I get as good as you :s

    (yet, I try :D)

  • great pianist

  • ZOMG NICE NICE NICE NICE

  • Absolutely astounding piece..I love this one, and could listen to it for hours..thanks for the video

  • does anyone now if ther is a piano tutorial on this song especially the begining intro to the song

  • unfortunately, the grieg is a very difficult piece. I'd imagine many of those who post tutorials cannot play the Grieg.

  • the intros not hard

and grieg isn't nearly as hard as rachmaninoff or prokofiev

and you can simplify it, and substitute some of the chords with loudness

  • Fantastic!!! For a school even better!!

  • i want to know how to play the piano like this. I'm used to just playing more modern songs and want to learn more than just that

  • a dark ally with its story, the piano are the persons in the story and the orchestra the invironment

  • I want to learn this piece I like the begining part its a really good song but when I look at the notes the notes are really hard I think

  • what is this, a high school? Really good stuff.

  • how old is he??

  • He's 20.

  • Fantastic! Well done to the pianist and the orchestra :)

  • O menino soca o piano!!! Q horro!

  • is this a highscholl or a middle school?

  • Wow, what school was this?

  • Wow! This is awesome work. i love to play this piece on the piano.

  • pianist is hot :)

This is pretty amazing. Imagine this with a higher quality sound....that would really be awesome

  • As good as it gets live. Unless he and the orchestra went into a studio and recorded... at which point I would TOTALLY buy the finished product =D This guy is awesome!

  • a high school?!

  • Great job !

For all Grieg lovers, try to find Julius Katchen's version which is to my opinion the best ever made, from far away !

  • 'Ave a banana!

  • Very well played.

  • Are you studying something about the music? You should!

  • Hey, I am learning this piece also.... how long did it take you to learn? your playing is amazing-- I'm going to watch this a lot to help with my sound!

  • i always find it funny when in the audience seeing the vast contrast between the 1st and 2nd violin sections; the firsts are always more convincing and you can tell by the way they move with the music they are good and they know it. then you look at the seconds and you understand why they are more hidden; all rigid and unconvincing.

  • In defense of 2nd violins: It might be true that in school orchestras, where the newcomer violinists usually start as 2nds, the 2nd violins are less experienced, confident, whatever. But the 2nds also usually get the less attractive parts, whereas the 1st violins get the melodies - no wonder THOSE move with the music!

  • you are awesome :)

    and cute

  • Wow, and this is "just" a school orchestra... :O. I can't belive... Is this a music school ot sth like that? 'Cause you're very good in my (layman's) opinion.

As for Grieg, I'm absolutely sure he is great!

  • You are excellent!!!!

  • Would have been better with Mr.Andrew Preview....

  • how old r u?

  • Update: Got the entire composition in the mail today, so I'll be off at work! And I can barely read sheet, but I'll do my best! I'll post a video response when I'm done. How old are you, by the way?

  • Now I'm 20, I was already 18 when I played this concerto.

Have fun with the concerto :)

  • What are you doing musically now?

  • lol so funny !

  • Jejku jakie to jest fajne!!! Na serio :) Zawaliste. Jea! Spokko! Super cooooooooool great! Nice play! Beatutiful! Sweet! Dolce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :*

  • Congratulations, lot of talent, very youg, to much future.

  • Ah, those accursed starting chords!

What an amazing piece. Good thing Grieg only put his time into making a single godly concerto.

  • We all wish to heaven there were more.... striking how Grieg wrote his most famous scores while on vacation.

  • Heh, I think it's a shame that he only wrote one concerto. It's a beautiful piece of work.

  • hey good job!

i'm working on this piece too :)

  • here is a god..no other place

  • There IS a God!

  • you've got to be fucking kidding me! This guy (kid?) did an extremely well performance along with his orchestra, and I just think he did this piece Justice. he inspired me to buy the sheet and learn the song!!! AWESOME job, man. How old are you?

  • Very nice ... even the orchestra, which was obviously a youth orchestra, was top notch. My only criticism was to the person operating the camera.

  • the piano is so fantastic.

  • This was really good !!!

  • the pianist is incredible....wow...great job....

  • Nice job

  • This is unbelivable

  • thanks for sharing

    great performance

  • Best intro ever in the whole history and present day music!

  • great performance

  • you're zeus in comparison to the orchestra, which i can rightfully call a donkey's penis.

  • You just convinced me, I want this to be the next concerto I work on! Great job!

  • This is better than some of the professionals. (I'm referring to the pianist) So young to perform a concerto. I've never seen someone this young play Grieg Piano Concerto in A Minor before. It's astounding.

  • Leon Fleisher played this work in Carnegie Hall under the baton of Leonard Bernstein and the New York. He was eleven at the time. John Williams played Fantasia para un Gentilhombre in the same venue (Bernstein, etc.) at age 17. At that time Andres Segovia said, "A prince of the guitar has arrived in the musical world; John Williams...God has laid a finger on his brow etc"

  • And Kissin performed both of Chopin's concertos at age 13. But regardless of your age, this was a great performance ( apart from the orchestra :) )

  • pianoAndEngineering

I forgot to mention that Sviatoslav Richter has two recording out there in CD land which put all others to shame.

You might like some of my favorites, although I keep diminishing the list so that I can send more recent finds to friends.

    Gerry

  • The orchestra was actually very good.

  • Kissin is Russian-trained, which means he started intense musical studies at a very young age.

  • WOW

    just great!

  • what a shame about the orchestra...god...they shouldn't be allowed to play...:D:D:D you are really brilliant although you're young...

  • Brilliant, my overal favourite classical peice of all time, edvard greig was a genious.. i loved it so much, i learnt to play this all the way though using my lovely steinway.

  • Pity about the orchestra you had... so much for their quiet entry on the oboes and flutes!

  • better than some of the proffesional pianists uploaded

  • Breathtaking. We're gonna be hearing more from this kid...

  • thx, but I was already 18 when I played this :P, so I'm a bit late to make you hear a lot more of me...
