I enjoyed my days as a soap actor (fame & money were great), but quit due to frustration with lack of control over my character.

The show’s producers actually made me GAY, something totally against my moral principles. I suggested we could work it as a warning to viewers- I could act in a predatory way as gays usually do, maybe abducting a young boy or something. However, they said I had to be a ‘sympathetic role model’. Fed up, I put in a request to be killed off by AIDS, which was accepted.

@rancidrancidrancid33 Old Hollyoaks was cheesy but good to watch, I can still vaguely remember when there was a massive accident on a bridge and everyone apart from Max(I think) died and he was in a wheelchair for ages and they got Lucy into drugs and was constantly raped and her life ruined and the domestic abuse storylines, they were good, its just recently its the plots are getting nowhere.

It's not as uncommon as you think. On the US Soap Opera Guiding Light there was a Character named Ashlee Wolfe who sang at her Mother's Wedding and was awful. Yet in real life she can sing really good. Type in Ashlee Sings At Doris's Wedding. You'll see what I mean. Oh by the way, how often to UK Soap Stars sing on their shows. Alot of US Soap Actors have strong Broadway Musical Experience who perform in shows like Grease, Dreamgirls, and Hairspray amongst others.
