How is this standard poker? I don't think I understand. He wasn't short stacked. He just pushed pre-flop with A/7 unsuited. I don't know when it's ever a good idea go all-in pre-flop with A/7.
In online tournament Play this is a very standard play. He'd never do this in a cash game, but with blinds going up and needing to double he tried to steal with a hand that if he gets called isnt all bad. He just got unlucky that someone had tens thats all.
lets say he made a raise to 1100, he is risking about 20% of his stack, he needs to jam it there to pick up the blinds and antes, as there is already 20% of his stack in the pot.
