another thing about these production swords is , though they are very well made they are all made to the same ratios of blade to handle . in the old days when a person was looking for a good sword a smith would build there sword specific to the person handling it . Blade to handle ratio would be based on the weilders body , arm length hand sise and height from wrist to ground when standing with arms down . you wont get a costom fit with these production swords.
another thing about this sword . it comes with a mirror polishsed geometricly perfect blade . it has 28" blade and 11.5" handle . and if you have big hands i would recomend adding another layer of wrap to the handle for comfort and to help larger fingers with grip .
Another thing about this sword is , i have never seen a blade that comes as sharp as this sword . can cleanly cut a sheet of paper with no effort at all . i took a heavy duty parachord boot lace , and dropped it on blade , it cut.
@redeemer61190 . i would advise any beginner , of practice cutting , bushido . fencing etc. to be extremely carefull . with a "real sword" like this one . it is a very nice sword very well made and very sharp . i would suggest practicing with a boken , to get the feel of wielding a sword before using a sword like this one . but if your looking for a top quallity sword for less than a thousand dollars , this sword is it. dot try any flashy moves with it if your a beginer.
@NJKTesla understood. I've taken a 6month kendo class and would certainly need more training, but I'm sure you've heard of beginners that user swords made with 9260 spring steel that say they are more forgiving to users who make faulty cuts or dont perform correct technique 100%. I believe cheness makes blades with 9260 spring steel but the tsukas they use suck (hear alot about cracked tsukas)
@redeemer61190 , well as a sword smith and metalurgist myself . the only real diference between 9260 of chiness, and the 1075 / 1095 of munetoshi , is the silicon content of the steel . both are great spring steels for swords. i personally would go with munetoshi . better handle and fittings . and again . i would recomend this sword , if you want a folded blade with clay temper.

the steel munetoshi uses known as T10 , is actully exactly the same alloy as 1095 high carbon . also . around 1% carbon by weight.

@NJKTesla Would you advise beginners like myself to stay away from buying this type of sword (In fear of making a botched cut?)
