That was a '70 50 watter with a big box '75 50 for a spare that wasn't used that day. The amp I'm playing is a stock lead spec (1987) amp simply cranked to 10 with a Scholz attenuator, or could be an Altair. I wasn't running any boosts or overdrives at all if you crank these all the way that is what you get. I did have a wah, flange, and a chorus. I usually set that amp on 10, with the bass on 10, mids 4, and presence/treble both on 6. I think at one point in Purple Haze I dimed the whole amp.
I actually swapped the pickups in this video around 1985 for some original double whites that seemed a tad hotter. Still, my current doubles are 8.4k and 8.3k and I bet these were just a tad less.
The neck PU in this video was a zebra PAF, not original to the guitar. The bridge was a double black, original to the guitar.
That said, I always prefered the sound of PAFs with the covers on. To me if you take the covers off they start to sound more like a modern pickup and not as sweet.
Great vid, Glen. I see Brian in cool mode behind Roth..Showin off his indian tan lol. Hey Ronnie, if your watchin', Mark C here. I think you stole my Pearl drums..no, wait mine were Slingerland!

What type of speakers were you using? Sounds more like G12H30s than Greenbacks to me.

Good ear! I bought those cabs new in about '77 or so. They had blackback G12H 30s in them, very efficient and very loud.

I'm kinda confused about the speakers, aren't G12s greenbacks?
Nice playing by the way

Glen, was that a superlead or a 50 watter? It looks like only 1 head is running? How did you get that much gain from a Marshall? Sounded great!
