We have run knobbies and they work but a paddle makes a big difference. A lot more traction and a lot more fun with the paddle. Note turning a paddle in the sand takes power. You'll have the 125 pegged full throttle the whole time. I think most 2 stroke guys richen the main jet up a bit for running in the sand.
I ran a 6 paddle on my 2000 yz 125. It did fine until I weighed around 140 lbs. then its just pinned and wingin' out all over the place, and then I blew it up.
I take 2 bikes. One I made a bracket out of angle iron that bolts to the exhaust mount and seat bolt. Took some cutting and welding to get it right, but it works well. The other bike I just drilled a half inch hole through the rear fender. Find or make some 3" OD washers to spread the load. Works fine if you have decent plastic. Set the hole as far forward as you can without it snagging the tire on G outs. I didnt get your second question.
I dont remember, they are pretty cheap. They sell them in the local gas stations, atv shops etc near the little sahara park. Surf the net for atv / bike shops in the area.
at sand dunes is it required to wear a flag on your bike?

@7PinkFloyd7
Yes you have to have a flag to enter the park. They have a gate at the entrances to the park and your flag has to hit the 10ft high cross bar.

@7PinkFloyd7 yes it has to be atleast 6 feet in the air

hey im 14 and im going to be riding a race bike kx 80 whould nobbies work
woodballer1243 2 years ago
knobbies work ok. You get stuck in soft sand a little easier. Paddles make a pretty big improvement..... more traction.

is it hard to drive on the sand
gfdrtdrdr 2 years ago
Not too bad, secret is to keep the front end light. Sit back and hit the gas. Harder you gas it the easier it gets! Takes a little getting used too.
