@eggybow carpenter is one of my favourite songs and it seems to work nicely with morning dew so I thought throw them together and it seems to work Ok.......all the best ...Kev
a love it man, think a was born to late, that whole era , the musics rearly been the same, it seems more deeper true , you do then great justice ma man,
@tanglewoodtw400n Thank you kind sir......i love both of these songs and they're so similar I thought why not chuck them together....it seems to work OK and it does go down well live.........You must be a glutton for punishment listening to all this old shite
I really love just about anything by TIm Hardin. He was a force to be reckoned with. I particularly like your approach with the double dropped D tuning here. It fits the song well. Thanks for sharing.
@specialrider54 Hi Dave.....thank you for your comment....I to love Tim Hardin and his songs....but I tended to find myself liking Tim Rose playing Tim Hardin songs better.....I have just been fiddling around with lady from baltimore ...but haven,t got around to recording it yet
Brings back very fond memories...We grew up w/ my dad always playing Johnny Cash on his guitar. He wasn't the greatest singer but ...lol. His playing was a staple of the house. I wonder if my kids will think that way when they're older. Nice job!
@wildredone thanks....it sounds like your dad and I have a fair bit in common...cos my singing sure leaves a lot to be desired also....someone once compared my voice to a cat pissing on a tin roof (their words not mine) but it did seem fitting lol....take care....Kev
@bedsitsongbird33 I learned morning dew in the 60,s ...later I heard tim hardin sing carpenter and they just sorta fitted together for me ....and I started doing them as a medley in folk clubs in the 70,s...Kev
@tanglewoodtw400n Thank you kind sir......I just play stuff I like (remember the words to) and if it works reasonably well I stick it on here...its a bit of a practice pad really......I,m just starting to get back to a reasonable level of musicality after a 15 year layoff....Kev
@Sunambra Thank you....its like most of the stuff I do (one take warts an all) .....and the video was recorded on a crappy digital still camera in video mode...........Thanks again...kev
@Principator Thank you my friend.....I always liked both tunes and they do go well together ...the phrasing just needed altering slightly on both to make them fit seamlessly...plus that tuning lends itself to experimentation...All the best for the coming year...Kev
@caulfield111 ..Thank you...I think I must have listened to just about every cover of this song on the tube.....some are great others not so....I think mine falls into the later category but hey its about enjoyment I have no illusions of been a superstar....I loved your version by the way
Rough guitar work (assume 15 year layoff being worked past), making use of open tuning, but solid and dramatic. Vocal real. Nice combination. Do believe it works. Thanks for sharing this performance.
@AncientZygote All my uploads are rough, unrehearsed single take efforts...but I have absolutely no illusions of grandeur.......Funnily enough Tim Hardin also played this in an open tuning although the not the same one as this....but thank you for the honest? comment...Kev
@electricragtime "...thank you for the honest? comment..." Ouch! Hey, Kev, why wouldn't I give you an honest comment, grin? If a man lacks confidence, he can never gain it by demeaning others. If we do well, it is more appropriate to be grateful than arrogant. I do believe that if you learn to play the guitar well you don't need to modify the normal configuration of the instrument. Some talented folks disagree. My own cover of Carpenter with Chas was also an unrehearsed single take.
@AncientZygote .....I was surprised by your thoughts on open tuning.... I was of the opinion that no matter how well you play ...if there is a way to make it easier, fuller, more appealing then that must be a good thing...... a guitarist only using standard tuning is a bit like a great artist only having a couple of colours on his palette ...
There are things that cannot physically be done in a stanard tuning which are simplicity itself in an open one .... I guess thats why so many use them..Kev
Yes and Yes...but its in desperate need of a restring...I just busted two and it was already missing three... so its rapidly turning into a one string fiddle
just had to listen again and again..... spot on cheers.
