song sample chopping with garageband

@7Marley7 not with garageband but with audasity (its a free download) u can separate the left and right channels and their is some videos on youtube that shows u some techniques u can do to get single tracks out of a song but i dont guarentee it will work.

@vonsusername The apple loops are quite corny, however I sample drum sounds off the loops all the time. I have a video showing how to make a drum library with GB and I sample some of the loops they have and just take the good bass drum and snare hits on their own and replay them to the pattern I want.

got a problem - ive chopped the sample and made the kick exactly how i want it. unfortunately when i drag it to the hip hop kit keyboard it changes to the sound effects keyboard which is greyed out, donc it doesnt work.

Make sure you have chosen Sound Effects under "Details"/"Generators"... whatever it is called in the english version. Then while dragging the chopped part it is greyed out, but while dropping it becomes "alive" again. :)

Just tooling around on the musical keyboard, I found out you can use the notes in the octaves below and above the normal range to save your samples.

That means you:

1. Don't have to write over software instruments you don't care for (like Comedy Noises) to make space.

2. Can use even the unused octaves on ones you do care about, giving you much more room to store samples.

My question: Is there any way to adjust the speeds - like a DJ - to line up a looped sample with Garageband's loops?

Ok i finally figured out how to do this on garageband 08 u do everything he expalins on the video u just have to make sure u add a basic track instead of a new track and the get the song you want and dragg it

This feature does work in GarageBand '08, but I am missing the Sound Effects Software Instrument on my computer... it got deleted somehow.

I tried to get it fixed at the apple store, but even the "apple genius" couldn't do it. I am going to try and re-install iLife and see if the Sound Effects are back.

I did try dragging the sample to the keyboard on the computers in the apple store and it does work.

I cant fid ny sound effects in my garageband files, i can only find it in my "jam pack remix tools". And these are some other sound effects made on a keyboard. I can drag down the chopped part over to the keyboard.
