@SStuwie I'm not sure about the Laika thing, I think that the Disney studios and Skellington Productions had made it or something but I do know that Tim Burton and the guy that directed this get confused, Burton had produced Nightmare not directed it, it was Henry who had directed both of these. They're both really good though so it prolly doesn't really matter

@CaptainSeaWolf I know a dubbing in which she has a voice that totally suits her and her personality. Here, she sounds too child-like and so many other things are wrong with her voice, that the character barely comes to life. Oh, and the mother's voice also isn't fitting enough for her character.

@CaptainSeaWolf I found the bulgarian dud of the movie. I googled "Coraline BG Audio". I've always been facinated by Bulgarian dubs. I find the bulgarian voices much better and perfectly fitting for the characters than the original Englsih voices. One of the biggest notices is Ariel from TLM and the characters from The Lion King, for example. Even if you don't understand the language, the bulgarian dubs are worth it just for the voices, the singing isn't less than excellent either.

@NoellVague actually, tim burton's name wasn't just slapped on Nightmare before christmas... he came with the central idea fo the movie: the holidays colliding; he apparently had already made the whole story as a poem; but yeah as a director Selick is the god of stop-motion!!!

you know...it's actually funny if you think about it... stop-motion is the oldest form of animation and very low-tech... I mean compare it with CGI! and yet... some of its creations just cannot be topped

i saw it last night. i wasn't very interested in seeing it, as i had very similar expectations as you. but it turns i left the theatre thinking the pg rating was very inappropriate for the movie. the content was anything but juvenile. much of the movie struck me as either far too risque or far too terrifying for young children to watch. but above anything else i took from the movie, in 3d this film was the most visually stunning thing i had ever seen. by all means worth the money.

are you a young child? because i had a family with young children in front of me, and they were quite frightened at particular scenes. i don't believe it would be scary for anyone over 13, as i'm sure you understood. i take it you simply felt the need to play the role of the contrarian. and i don't know much about the MPAA rating system but the theatre woman stands out as the sole reason, if no other exists, that this movie deserved a pg-13 rating.

It was so creepy with it being empty and hearing Mrs. Spink partly sing in the backround, and then the two sisters are like twisted and shit. That part made me jump.
