i think it's less luck rather than effective effort, she probably practices for about 3-4 hours a day. anybody doing that could probably get as good as she is.
Dear Tim, thank you for accepting my video answer, i'm happy that you like our interpration. And also compliments for the piano transcription of Histoire du Tango, it sounds very good. Cheers to your violinst too.

Night club 1960 is a sad song.. My only comment is the tempo is too fast.. and there are some disturbing notes in both piano and violin. cute chick btw hehe
Not yet - we are waiting for permissions, and PBS are working on this for a broadcast later in the year so I need to wait to see what they come up with. I already have your info and will let you know as soon as it is ready. Thanks for your interest!
I love your bow strokes and how you make good use of the bow. Also I admire how some of your notes resonate/ring with your other open strings.
I would just watch out on becoming "airy" with your sound when going to a piano dynamic. But don't worry, its hard for all of us string players. xP
Nevertheless, awesome performance of the Histoire Du Tango by Astor Piazzolla. Very professional sounding. Hey, hopefully I'll get to see you at Tanglewood or the Eastern Music Festival :D
uh great performance as always. anyhow, i was wondering if you'd give me permission to record this with audacity and put it on my myspace (i didnt wanna do so without your permission)
I just checked with the pianist, who is also the arranger and he wanted to make sure you give him/us proper credit. Tim Ribchester, pianist and arranger; Caeli Smith, violin
Very good playing. Correct, and even with sudden glimpses of real virtuosity. However, when playin Piazzola it's indispensable to let go and allow the emotions to transform tempo and phrasing. I feel your playing a little bit cold (taking into account the source this music comes from) and a little too calculated. Free yourself from "correctness" and let your passionate self come out.

rainmusic123 2 years ago
Sure, though I didn't really change the violin part - Caeli does some embellishment, otherwise it's the same as the flute.

Wow, nice work! This makes me want to grab my clarinet and play some Piazzolla. Wish I could dance... :-/
Anyway, keep up the good work.

Your violin playing is amazing! It's so expressive. I especially like 1:51-2:09.

Re: your quartet and this style of music... I'd recommend you look up "Lullabye" by George Gerwishin.
And re-record the Haydn. You've obviously developed a lot in a year.
All best
