It has good actors in it, but the film is fundamentally flawed because it has FAR too much weirdness in it. Every character is weird, and that is not conducive to comedy because the weirdness has no everyday scenarios to bounce off of. As far as me disliking this film because I'm an atheist? I don't know why you want to bring that into it. I love films, I don't believe in religion...

It's a Suzuki Omnichord, 80's autoharp synth. Dr.Chevalier's model here would be the OM-100, which is exactly the same as the OM-200 model only without midi.

Hey, just bought my 3.omnichord on ebay, so guess I'm a collector by now hehe. They have a beautiful sound (in my ears) and are so much fun to play. Great songwriting tools. The versions with midi have the added benefit of doubling as midi controllers for other synths/vst plugins..

I guess so yeah, I've only seen the autoharp on youtube videos, but yeah, you hold a button(s) for the chord you want and strum the plate.. The midi versions are the Om-200m and Om-300 versions, also the newer Q-chord (which has sucky onboard sounds). Apparently the Om-100 have the same mainboard as the Om-200m minus the actual midi port..So if you're handy with soldering you can retrofit midi to the OM-100. The midi omnichords tend to be a bit overpriced on e-bay.
