This was my Mom's jam back in the day. She would blast this and sing along whether she was getting ready to go out or clean the house. Thanks for sharing!
Found this track on a cassette tape called Nightbeat which featured some great non-hits and biggies from that mid 80s. It brings back great memories of driving to the Lake district for a weekends camping with mates.
@MrChicago891 It didnt even hit the top 50 on the Hot 100..dont think it was that high on R&B either..it kind of dropped right off the chart and rarely played at the clubs..I have NO earthly idea why this didnt beat out I feel for You..which i liked this much better..this and its My Party..both died on the charts without much air play..a real shame. as this was better than many other songs that charted Higher.
this used to be my Get in the Mood for the club..Friday Saturday Nite..I would pump this on huge speakers lay my clothes out..dance around the room ..take a shower then Step out..This Is My Night.
THIS IS MY NIGHT! send a tingle down my spine every time i hear it, is as fresh today as it was 27 years ago. you will not find a new song that will be as lasting as this hit, CHAKA KHAN l feel for you babe!!!
CHAHKA KAHN BABY!!! man this is intense, we just don't have this incredible level of talented artist anymore, I mean 1984 let's list what was going on musically. If you turned on the radio, You had Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Pattie labelle, Chahka Khan, Aretha Franklin, madonna, Sade, George Michaels, Phil Collins, Peter gabriel, New Order, That song from the Beverely Hills Cop, Shannon, The Pointer Sisters, rick James, Grand Master Flash, Tears For fears, Lionel Richie, etc.
@AlexusDivine we also had Janet - Midnight star - Roget Troutman - boy george - Rene and Angela - Grandmaster flash - Lisa Lisa and the list goes on!!!!!!!
@astrogliding - i was 7 when this album came out. im hard pressed to name a song on this album i DIDNT like! and i miss this cool "80's sound". to me it still sounds FRESH! ^_^ and where other FADING artists of the 70s tried to "revive" their career with this sound, Chaka COMMANDS it.
The System 80's hit making due produced this jam for her.

it has a lot of electronica sounds that the european dance artists used except they seem to be truncated here.
