I had tickets to this show as well. There was a weird incident, because my sister couldn't get someone to cover for her at work and we went anyway, so she got fired and we didn't even get to see them. At least we got to tell Rob and Merk about it a couple years later and I've seen them since then. I did miss getting to see Belly, but I have seen Tanya play solo shows and with Throwing Muses. I assume this is a joke. Just looking at this douche in his lame-ass caesar cut and 'ironic' sparkly shirt just makes me want to puke. Tanya Donelly = boner though.
And you're both boring and redundant, do you get out a red pen and mark your monitor anytime you read a blog trying to find typos so you can 'make yourself feel better'? Wow, that bumps you up doesn't it? Poor little man :) You twit, are a moron, kindly go play in traffic.
I think this was an excellent song from this album, so underrated. I luv it, one of the best on this album. I luv them forever. now re-unite!!=P tanya has such a melodic voice...
This version (with Tanya Donelly) was the radio version of the song. I don't think she was removed from it, I think it was done after the album version was finished.
I always thought he was there on purpose in full view since Rob said this video was supposed to be inspired by bad Ed Wood films, where you could see the strings, etc... Maybe it was a flub? I never really thought of it before now, lol
This version is better than the CD, 'cause on the CD, the freakin' record company had them edit out Tanya's lead after Belly split up. Their freaking loss!
I agree and like the video-version with Tanya better, too. But although Tanya was edited out on the album version, there is (thank god) a single to be had with her on it.
I agree and like the video-version with Tanya better, too. But although Tanya was edited out on the album version, there is (thank god) a single to be had with her on it.
Alright, one more. The melancholy vibe on this song captures how I felt at that time. I saw Belly and Catherine Wheel in October '95 and Tanya sang this with CW. I remember her squirting water through her teeth at the bass player and wishing that was me playing bass.
kdevus, that was by far the most eloquent, poignant comment I've ever had the pleasure of reading on You-Tube.Your verve and insight are magnanimous and moving,...poetic,even.
I miss the 90s: Smashing Pumpkins, blind melon, soundgarden, pusa, silverchair, nirvana, electrafixion, radiohead, belly, joan osborne, Alanis Morrisette, Heather Nova, Placebo............I miss 90's. I wish they came back
this song totally rocks! and especially with tanya. i still listen to belly and the breeders and throwing muses. ah, 95 what a good year you were for music.
I am 26 now, when this shit was good, it was good, now its just great. And I totally agree with all of you. Reclaiming a part of my youth each day. This is what I long for, reclamation of ALL of my youth, so by the time I'm 60, pending death, I will be back to like I was when I was a teeny bop. As the great Perry Farrell put it once, "Children are innocent, a teenagers fucked up in the head, adults are even more fucked up, and elderlies, are like children."
Love both CW and Tanya, but is it me, or is she given a lead vocal on this that isn't on the CD. I think she is strickly backing vocals there, I'll have to pull the CD and check again.
oh...almost makes me cry. i love the catherine wheel. i never saw them live. their music is everything-- pain, love, wonder ("strange fruit"), anger ("chrome"), i can go on and on. ill shut up now.
90s alternative music video were the freaking best. Stone Temple Pilots, Silverchair among others. :) It's so nastalgic it's just so beautiful and takes you to a nice place. :)
I read somewhere that they took most of her vocals off the song for the album and single because her group Belly's album that had come out didn't sell very well. Guess they had already shot the video before they made that decision??? Whatever the reason - I like this version with more Tanya better and it definitely makes it even more of a definitive 90's track!
I saw them live in 95 or 96 in Philly, and they were amazing. I was actually there see Wax, of "Southern California" -Spike Jonze fame. They were scheduled opener, but they cancelled when I got to the door. Catherine Wheel played one the most amazing live sets ever. They had this huge bannet behing them, and just killed it on "Judy"s staring at the Sun". Thanks for the video,
I can listen to this song 800 times a day and not get sick of it. I like this video because it's just totally 90's. I love the bright colors that the videos had in the 90's.
I'm so sick of people who talk shit about today's music on old music videos. I love this song as much as anyone but to pretend that this was what was happening in music in 1995 is fucking dumb. My favourite Catherine Wheel song. Anyone ever notice the guy fixing the set over Tanya's shoulder at 1:16 and the in full view of Rob at 1:20!
atomota101 3 years ago
That's amazing, I never noticed it before and now I see it every time! there's a dude out there "in space" spinning the mirrorball!!

I always thought he was there on purpose in full view since Rob said this video was supposed to be inspired by bad Ed Wood films, where you could see the strings, etc... Maybe it was a flub? I never really thought of it before now, lol

This certainly captured a moment in time as surely if someone had taken a picture. Great song.

This version is better than the CD, 'cause on the CD, the freakin' record company had them edit out Tanya's lead after Belly split up. Their freaking loss!

Good way for corporate to put their interests over art. For What???? To ruin a great mix!!!

I agree and like the video-version with Tanya better, too. But although Tanya was edited out on the album version, there is (thank god) a single to be had with her on it.

I pity those that will never allow themselves the chance for the discovery of an esoteric classic like this song/video.

Alright, one more. The melancholy vibe on this song captures how I felt at that time. I saw Belly and Catherine Wheel in October '95 and Tanya sang this with CW. I remember her squirting water through her teeth at the bass player and wishing that was me playing bass.

I was 21 and on my own for the first time when this song came out. I haven't heard it in 12 years and I have played it 3 times in a row today.

I got chills from this. I almost got emotional. It's like a part of my youth that I just reclaimed.

Yeah this was a different mix.

CD she only does backing vocals. This was the radio track. I like this version better.

I agree with zang2nd. t.d. does have a bit more "say" in the singing. Glad she's from my city! I thank you the one who posted.

Wow...This is an alternate version of the popular video AND the popular version of the song. T.D. has a more extensive vocal in this one.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
English fag music created the rap garbage that is on the radio now. Tanya Donelly is sluming with these geeks.
