The term "US Military" is being thrown around loosely here. The Governor of Ohio (not the federal govt) sent in the Ohio National Guard. Whether they should have been there or not is debatable (buildings were burning around town as protesters were turning violent ). However, the fact that shots were fired is a great national tragedy, one that pitted "us" against "them", and caused a deep cultural rift in this country. A preventable occurrence, and a damn shame.

remember john adams successfully defended the british soldiers in the boston massacre. they were attacked first. the commander was infront of his own men, he almost got shot by his own guys. when you have a riot, with a bunch of angry kids all kinds of things happen. most of them tragic.

The U.S. military should have not been there in the first place. The military has no right to intimidate protesters protesting the policies of the U.S. government (seems unconstitutional to me) and the protest did not get out of control until the troops actually showed up.

Nowadays it is so different, 18 year olds can vote, get sent to war, but not allowed to drink, what gives.

for example:

notice how the example invokes the memory of kent state to prove its point, thus using it to its advantage, and "taking advantage of it"

Back then, I was just a freshman in high school, and there were many protests against the Vietnam war going on in many campuses and places. The shooting at Kent State was a shock and peeved off many folks, both pro and anti Vietnam war. Back then, 18 year olds didn't have the right to vote, but were put in the draft and sent to war. Nowadays it is so different, 18 year olds can vote, get sent to war, but not allowed to drink, what gives.

Yeah but its not the same as it used to be, and it goes both ways. Put yourself in someone elses place, The only solution to racism we have come up with is, Black people got screwed, so lets screw White men. We puinish people who havent done anything and benefit people who havent truly suffered.
