  • nicely done! looking strong!

  • great job man, don't want to see you pissed off!

  • Not bad man looking strong!

  • do you keep moving your house always seems different

  • lol @ you telling Mr. Aries how to do shoulder presses "correctly". Dudes twice the size and strength of you. You're a clown.

  • mate, he's doing push presses, not shoulder presses. push press uses the drive from the hips to help the movement, and as far as i can tell he does em fine.

  • who is teaching you how to lift? You obviously need less wight because you jerking your momentum upward to help you get the bar off your shoulders. STOP cheating yourself. Go don't in weight and practice 3x10 then go up in weight or even 3x5/5x3 if you want to gain weight but please don't do what you did in this video. your going to hurt yourself and your embarrassing yourself by putting your bad form on tape.

  • thats because he is doing a push press, not an overhead press, he just forgot to the change the title, if you scroll up to previous comments he was going to change it.

  • SigmaStealth4, If you have never even seen a push press before then you have no business critiquing form.

  • Whats that, around 80kg isnt? good effort mate.

  • Thanks Cornerstone...Probably gonna make a new overhead vid tomorrow...Gonna see what i can do with 175 lbs this time...and 180 lbs, which i'll work with next week, is 82 kg's.

  • Thanks Randy..Yeah,this is what i consider a start..I can tell that my shoulder is so much better than it was back when i started trying to work my way into overheading again in aug of 08..I feel a dramatic world of difference from that time period and now..My short term goal for 7 reps is 205..and then, maybe i'll go for something like 225x5 and so on and so forth...i feel like i can get alot better at these than benching because i can use my whole body with push presses.

  • Very nice Job. you mentioned in one of the comments that you were happy to do this again. How much weight were you doing before...just curious?

  • Thanks ! I dislocated my left shoulder at work back in 12/07 and when i started doing these again in 8/08 i could only do up to 135 without a substaintial amount of pain involved..I was quite into overheads back in 1993..Used to do this weight for about the same number of reps back then but after a seriousknee injury in 10/93,i didnt do standing overheads again till 1996 and i only did the did them very sparingly from then on..Now though,i'm gonna do them at least twice per week ! I'm Stoked !

  • Good job man! You're pretty slim, what do you weigh? That had to be close to your bodyweight.

  • Thanks Mark ! I just weighed myself right after i red you're post..178 lbs.

  • I assume you're 6 ft or better? Anyway, way to keep yourself in shape! I watched some of your other vids ( spinning kicks vid and biking) and you're smart to stay active,so many guys just let themselves go.I also noticed you're 39 yrs old,we're the same age man!

  • HaHa..I liked that post ! Yeah,i turned 39 on may 18th..My height is actually 5-10..I actually have pretty good sized hamstrings from all the mtn biking..I do value this temple of mine as well..Like you said, most fellas let themselves go,especially once they're pushing the big 4-O.

  • nice work, although those look more like push presses, as you used your legs alil to help drive the weight up, regardless still nice work man!

  • Thanks ! Sure feels good being able to do this exercise again with some decent weight after not being able to go heavier than 135 for the longest time due to the shoulder disclocation i suffered at work back in December of 2007...I am so incredibly motivated, enthralled and full of enthusiasm now that my shoulder doesnt bother me when using much more respectable poundages. : )

  • Just for future reference a overhead press requires no leg drive, and is all arms basically, I only tell you this because there are picky elitist weightlifters out there who will give you attitude if the exercise title does not match the video.

what you did was actually a push press as you used leg drive to help you get the weight over your head, but push press or overhead press what you still did was overall strong effort and keep working hard!

  • Thanks Jerichosquink ! Maybe i should change the title of the vid to "Standing Push Press" ? I'm so thrilled to be able to do these with decent weight again..Had a shoulder disclocation back in 12/07 which prevented me from being able to use any kind of decent weight with this exercise...My goal is to do 205x7.

  • I am actually weightlifternerd on my other account just to clear up any confusion, 165 x 7 is a good amount of weight to push press, you may be able to do a few reps with 205, keep working hard and surely you will get there!

  • Thanks for the encouraging words !

I should mess around with 205 very soon just to see where i stand and approximate how far i have till i reach my goal of 205x7...gotta go back on the creatine for sure though ! And i'll have to get me another cannister of whey protein as well.

  • I heard bad things about creatine, and bad side effects personally I stay away from it, but if it works for ya and doesnt have any bad side effects go for it.

  • I take a teaspoon of creatine everyday, its great stuff.

  • just outta curiousity, Why did you keep on moving from town to town like that?
