yay ifrit caress and meteor swarm are back. well meteor swarm was in VP2 but you could only use it via gameshark. why isnt lezard in this game? he reincarnated in one of the endings.:'( whyyy??? LEZAAARRD???(geez i sounded like lorenta in the first game)

This I think is a story taken well before even the times of Silmeria (VP2), since this is before Odin and Frey decided to suppress Valkyrie's memory after each reincarnation.
