Since this was in 2008,I think back then there was an slow backastab animation thatv didn't kill if the victim ran away.Here spy started raising his knife and as scout turned back,Spy didn't lower his knife and due to animation playing,hit the Scout with the knife as if it was from the back.

it might've not been an actual face stab although it probably was. there's something us spies call a front stab, which involves strafing, the flicking of the wrist and stabbing the shoulder of the back half of the enemy

Oh, the joys of Lag Compensation. This is a precise example.

If you turn, to others you will turn .1 seconds later. If you hit with your bat, to others you will hit with your bat .1 seconds later.

If you see a Spy raise his knife, to you he already did that .1 seconds earlier.

Basically, in this video the Scout's player was already backstabbed before he even turned around.

It has, unforgettably returned. Using the exact same techneque spies can face-stab, they can also air-stab, (Jumping in top of someones head and back-stabbing them while facing in the same direction as them) and hard shoulder stabbing.

Spies have 180 degrees to work with when it comes to your back, so if you rotate your character even a little bit and the spy is on the edge, like in the video, it'll be a backstab. Technically, that's your back side, so it's fine.

The animation keeps going making it appear to be a facestab even if you turned back at the last moment, which is what likely happened here.

Lag or poor visual perception just makes it more noticable =)

You get owned by a Soldier,Heavy,Demoman or Scout before you even catch up to them.Pyro takes skill.You have to flank,time your airblast and know when to attack.As spy,you have cloak to run away whenever you need,BUT as Pyro you have no claok,you have to fight back.

I know why, its all because its not a completely perfect lag free game. It may not appear like that but sometimes people will see you come around a corner before you see them or it looks like they are facing one way and they are facing the other. Thats what happened there, it probably looked like you were turned around in the spies point of view but if he saw your face then its really fucked up
