When ZD Labs UK started up was about the time I decided to get out of PC reviewing. It was the sheer pointlessness of the benchmarks that depressed me. The only intelligent response to the reams of figures was, 'so what?'.
But what about inline skating during the graveyard shift to reset 100 PCs for RightSize testing? Or rocking out to Led Zeppelin in the anechoic chamber? Or watching the World Cup (and the OJ Simpson low-speed highway chase) on the conference room projection screen (or playing Descent and Doom on it)? Or the snoring Satchell on the 2nd floor?
I don't begrudge the late nights ZD Labs squeezed out of me. Ah, good times.

"It it's not broke, it's not been in the Labs" - that was the ZD Labs UK motto...

I loved ZD Labs! I was lucky enough to visit the place once. Truly amazing.

"Been there, done that, broke it." Unofficial ZD Labs motto.
