  • If michael fay did that in korea there is nothing happen to him,and crazy pro-american assholes will defend him.

  • @kwonneon so you mean you support singapore's decision of caning him?

  • @MrJonslife / singapore did a right thing

  • @kwonneon Thanks for supporting. I agree too, and they do not cane people for nothing. And thats how the country is able to reduce so much crime. I do not believe in death penalty though.

Lets all pay Mr Lee Kwan Yew a tribute here for fathering Singapore and finally retiring from the cabinet in 2011 after decades of contribution!

  • FYI, I as a singaporean do not agree in caning and certain laws in singapore. But one cannot deny the fact that the gov has done so much for us over the past few decades that propel singapore to become one of the richest countries in the world. And you must live in singapore to actually realise that the rules are just in place, but seldom practised. I do not see people being caught on the streets for littering, and even more ridiculous, for not flushing the toilet.

  • lets soooooaaaar and reach for the skyyyyyyyys

  • Who wants to speak at the speakers' corner when the authorities are there to watch and could nab you anytime? :\

  • REAL Free energy technology exists! But the Big corporations spend millions to ensure that information does not spread to the masses,Find a motor that needs no fuel or input at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Join the revolution!

  • I have to say, Singapore is my favourite city to visit, and hope to work there one day. I kinda wished that NZ ran the same way.... definitily something to be proud of

  • if the youngsters are so obssessed about facts, and we do not read beyond the textbooks, nobody would be watching this video anymore...

  • where can I download this???

  • @dos4648 english please

  • @modsJUTSU if you can't read you may go your own hell

you a banana? so go to your banana's language for your personal right.

  • @dos4648 What does it have to do with banana and can't read. And what does it have to do with i can't read go to hell.

You go to Hell, And burn your existence for mocking me!

  • @modsJUTSU you have your own right to be mocking bird, up to you

    香蕉=banana

learn by yourself, no time to bird you, hahaha

  • @dos4648 you are such a loser.

  • I have learned alot after watching this documentary series.I am a singaporean and will be PROUD to be a singaporean every second of the day. Retarded at 0:34

  • thts a good example a small proud ant standing against mighty beast ad wins

  • discovery channel doesnt show any criticism cuz otherwise they wouldnt have gotten lee kuan yew on TV

  • the people who mark this as negative simply dont realise the truth. either that or they are just uncomfortable with it and would rather sweep it under the carpet. This documentary has whitewashed the repressiveness of singapore

  • Clap to Lee Kuan Yew.

  • michael fay is bitch. stupid and moron. U.S. should not interfere the Singapore judiciary.

  • @aa00225 MICHAEL FAY SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN BEATEN BUT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FINED AND KICKED OUT OF THE COUNTRY OF SINGAPORE. SINGAPORE IS A VIOLATOR OF HUMAN RIGHTS AND SHOULD BE PENALIZED FOR IT ECONOMICALLY. SINGAPORE CANNOT SUCCEED WITH BRUTALITY

THE SAME IS TRUE FOR Kamari Charlton WHO IS SAID TO BE FACING A BEATING IN SINGAPORE.

  • @sutonchef

the point is,your words don't carry much weight for the average singaporean.what kind of authority do you have in saying that your concept of human rights is the ultimate one?

  • @sutonchef

Any punishment is a violation of human rights. Putting a man in prison for so many decades that he can no longer return to society is also cruel to the extreme. What good is freedom then, if you can no longer make a living and the only place you know off is prison. Is that even humane? Yet the US does so. And what of US court putting children in prison!

Harsh punishment is to scare people from committing crime in the first place.

  • @sutonchef

Michael Fay broke a law that clearly carried caning as punishment. So yes, he should have been caned. Foreigners are supposed to be let off the hook? There are more than a million foreigners living in Singapore, so 20% of the population gets to live under special laws?

I personally think caning is inhumane, but do the crime, take the spanking. And if I was given a choice of six months in jail or four strokes of the cane, I think I might just take the cane.

  • @aa00225 typical egoistic mindset of a nation dominated by whites who thinks that anything an Asian does that is not what they believe is right is babaric, inhumane and third world.

  • law got its flaws =)

  • the replacement rate is 1.29 now. that means for every 13 babies they have to import 7 to replace. in 2 generations the original population will become "minorities" and the rest will be new immigrants.... that will really change our social landscape. the next ndp you'll hear "come on singapore! lets go forth and breed like rabbits!"

  • lol at 0:34

  • of course....

  • Are the rules in Singapore that strict? I heard you can get fined if you spit on the street.

  • yes, but i see minor offences quite frequently without fines being imposed. it's not like they watch you 24/7.

  • sweet! I wonder if I should move there. Hmmmm . . . how are the living expenses compared to the U.S.?

  • probably depends where in the U.S. (- I haven't lived there). however, you'd better bring either cash or plenty of work experience (which implies higher salary), as graduate salaries barely cover rent and living expenses if you lead a comfy lifestyle.

  • Dude u r only 18, what makes u so into moving to Singapore? is just funny.

  • lol

well, things here in the U.S. are not going great to say the least. I mean, Bernanke keeps printing money and just recently the Pentagon said they were going to have 20,000 soldiers patrolling the streets. According to Peter Schiff, Singapore is one of the most free market countries in the planet. Also, Jim Rogers moved his family there.

  • That would be a good option. Singapore govt love Westerners, I don't know why it was so but yes it is the fact.

And Singapore is very near to Malaysia and Thailand which you can spend your holidays there. And most important, Singapore is very convenient as a living place.

  • I heard US like to shoot people, at home and overseas. Right to bare arms? My ass

  • You have to understand that the Founders of the U.S. put the 2nd amendment there so that the people could protect themselves from the government. U.S. citizens nowadays are so dumb that they have forgotten that their greatest enemy are the banks and the government that serves them. The solution to 1913 is the spirit of 1776.
